Yeah, but what Jason is saying is that the book tells you how many hours the work is supposed to take according to GM. So, no matter how long it takes, they will charge you what ever it says in the book.

And when you multiply that time with the hourly labor rate, you come up with some pretty high $$$'s...

Well duh it's my fault for taking it to them, my point is I think $700 bucks is a rape job!!!!

Anywho, I'm in the process of getting a full refund I already got the manager thinking $700 bucks was too high, and he checked the labor work. He told me it took 4 hrs, and that it should not have. I'm gonna go talk with him on Thursday.

All I can say is y'all must have some special LT1 cars, ... On my 97 TA (with dual cats) I could change plugs in less then 2 hours, from shutdown to startup... the first thing I learned is it takes all day fighting to get to the passenger side.. UNLESS you take the 10 minutes to drop the y-pipe... then everything is right there from underneath...
But I am a do it myselfer from waaaay back

I agree, but if they quoted him $500, even at $75/hr that's still over 6.5 hours they charged him! And at $700 it's over 9 hours! Either way, they suck.

When I changed them, I'd get all but #6 and #8 from the top, and I'd drop the starter to get those from the bottom. Made it easier.

Exactly! Don't forget were talking about changing plugs AND wires, not just plugs.
Wires are a lot harder to change than plugs, since it's such a pain to route them.
