Re: emissions and nasty cams (dallas area)

Yeah I live in collin county its a few miles north of dallas but yes we have the emissions testing. I still dont understand what they would look for at a non emissions testing facility to see if your in an area that requires it. Not like i have collin county writen on my forehead but I dont really know how it works...

your old sticker is colored, or shaped different. and your insurance card has your info on it also. the inspector is supposed to check.

but i'm not 100% sure on that.

The inspector is suppose to check the address on the insurance for weather or not you have to pass the emissions or not if they miss the fact that you live in a pollution controled county your OK as far as getting the sticker. But the real problem comes if you are stopped by the police. If the cop notices your inspection is a saftey only and the date of your insurance over laps the date of the inspection sticker he can declear it as an illeagal inspection sticker and remove it from the car. Also it can carry a charge for a ficticious inspection and I think it is a class b misdemeanor. I have worked as an inspector and now in law enfourcement.

Also if someone pulls a carfax on your car they will see inspections missing
and may scare off buyers.

Re: emissions and nasty cams (dallas area)

now there are ways to ahum....cheat. such as tapping into the exhoust with a freash air line, run it to a hidden bottle and when you go to get it tested open the valve and presto a clean running car. becouse the tester doesnt test how much fuel is dumping out, so when you add clean air it appears to be running clean. same thing with the air pump on the factory cars, they add freash air to the burned fuel to"make" cleaner emissions. you factory air pump may even be good enough to do that. do a search in lt1 tech, some dude did that and posted the results of the test.
