Austin Area Members -- Looking for a Job

In a quite rude turn of events, I was fired from my 4+ year career at Dell on August 20th.

I'm basically in scramble mode. I do not want to lose my house.

Anyway, here is my resume.

If anyone knows of some good employment opportunities, I'd greatly appreciate any info. I've been applying all over the place without any real nibbles thusfar.

Well, after looking at your resume, I feel like some gritty Neanderthal, happy I just created fire with a rock and dry twigs. I did notice that you some experience in a call center environment. I work at Progressive Insurance on Riverside and IH-35. We are always hiring, although mainly for call center reps, but with your experience and background, maybe something better is available. There is plenty of room for advancement, it is a relaxed environment, and the pay is pretty decent. If you want, just come down and fill out an app and submit you resume. I hope this helps you out,

Kyle

Hey, Kyle. I applied online at Progressive's website and got no responses. All of the openings I saw were for rep-level (edit: Just found 2 manager openings), so I'm not sure whether to take that as a subtle compliment that I'm "over-qualified" or what. In varying capacities, I've been working with call centers for 4 years.

Can you get the me contact information for a Progressive HR recruiter?

I'm currenlty looking for a job too. Here are some site that are contacting me like crazy after I have posted my resume or used there free services:

http://jobs.statesman.com/wl/JS_JobS...=1062782425000

http://www.allaustinjobs.com/employers.htm

http://www.monster.com/

http://www.officeteam.com/Home

Try these sites out. They are very helpful. And I get my email inbox full all the time with people responding to my resume. Tell me what happened. Post it on this forum.

We are actually having an "Open House" next Wednesday. It will be pretty busy but, all of our HR recruiters will be there. You are right that, most of the time, we are hiring for entry level reps. Most of the mid level management positions are filled from within (a'la me), but due to some re-structuring, we have some Management poitions open. It may be worth the effort to come down. If you can't make it this coming Wednesday, we have several planned at various locations on the follwoing Wednesdays. Our HR # in Austin is 464-2100 but, I asked an HR rep and they said that if you apply online, things tend to happen a little quicker. When was the last time you applied? Good luck either way,

Kyle

Tejano:

Thanks for the tips. I'd tried out half of those sites, but will try the other ones as well.

Kyle: You have mail. I'll need some info on location of the Open House.

The open house is held in house at the center right off I-35 and riverside.

I think its from like 9-6 on the weekdays and like 10-2 on Saturday.
