Question a55hole richardson cop gave my g/f a ticket!!

Please someone tell me he is wrong. I let her drive my car home from the grocery store. He pulled her over and gave her a ticket for my car having an expired registration!! I gave him my dl and insurance. but he wanted hers (she was driving) He took my insurance and her dl, then gave her the ticket! he said anytime anyone drives a car, he/she takes full responsibility for the car, even any tickets the car deserves. He didn't give her a ticket for not having insurance, just expired registration.

Is this a s s hole cop with badge number #576 right??? I should get the ticket! not her.....

please advise...

driver assumes responsibility.

word of advice. get your car inspected. I learned the hard way too. $20 is less than $100.

first off, let's not reduce ourselves to name calling over an ignorance of the law.

(a) A person commits an offense if
(1) the person operates on a public highway during a registration period a motor vehicle
(2) the license plate has not been validated by the attachment of a registration insignia for the registration period in effect.

the offense is 'operating a vehicle on a public road with expired registration'. now if you're a passenger you can't exactly operate the vehicle?

now, that aside, if the registration has been expired less than two months, renew it and pay the $10 fee.

(b) A justice of the peace or municipal court judge having jurisdiction of the offense may:

(1) dismiss a charge of driving with an expired motor vehicle registration if the defendant:

(A) remedies the defect not later than the 10th working day after the date of the offense; and

(B) establishes that the fee prescribed by Section 502.176 (the registration fee) has been paid; and

(2) assess an administrative fee not to exceed $10 when the charge is dismissed.
