These results reflect the record holders, qualifiers, and final round contestants at each of the
Street Car Shootout Series events held each Tuesday at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois.

All vehicles compete utilizing Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) approved tires. All other modifications are permitted. Tuesday SCSS Track Records can be set during official qualifying or championship rounds. The Official Street Car Shootout qualifying period begins at 6:30 PM and concludes at 9:00 PM, (barring unforeseen circumstances). At 9:20 PM, the four quickest qualifiers meet in no-handicap eliminations with the championship final round held at 9:45 PM. Each of the Top 16 qualifiers receives a "Fastest Street Car Qualifier" decal. The SCSS trophies and decals are presented by Gateway Raceway.com. Additionally, the two quickest Sport Tuner drivers, (open to all passenger cars except Rear-Wheel-Drive vehicles with engines of eight cylinders or more), also meet in a no-handicap championship round for trophies presented by St. Louis Street Racers.com and the two quickest Super Truck drivers, (open to all trucks and utility vehicles), meet in a no-handicap championship round for trophies presented by Gateway Raceway.com. All finalists in all categories also receive free digital images from the event courtesy of Bret Kepner Photos.com and one free entry to a future SCSS event.

With massive storms sending rain everywhere but the racetrack, it was a minor miracle that the gates ever opened for the twelfth event of the 2008 Street Car Shootout Series at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. It was no shock, however, when a huge storm cell dumped a deluge onto the facility only twenty-eight minutes after the start of the official qualifying period, canceling the event. Mother Nature has now claimed one quarter of the events in the season’s SCSS schedule.

Atmospheric conditions were abysmal; the corrected elevation rose over three thousand feet above sea level for the first time at a 2008 SCSS race. Elapsed Times and speeds suffered although the racing surface held plenty of power as evidenced by Tony Huff’s 1.28-second sixty-feet ET on an 8.51-second, 159.99 mph run which led the Super Sixteen field at the time of the rainout. The Dale Huff Motorsports 510-cubic inch nitrous oxide-injected 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air paced 2007 SCSS Season Champion Tim “Moose” Mallicoat, new SCSS Truck ET Record holder Kevin Autenrieth and Ray Arthur while Steve Compton’s black ‘70 Nova was qualified fifth with a shut-off 11.11/87.41 run which included strong 6.34/105.80 eighth-mile numbers.

Defending event champion Adam Corbitt paced the St. Louis Street Racing.com Sport Tuner Showdown program in the Corbitt Brothers/Polk Audio/Dub Werks turbocharged ‘85 Volkswagen Golf Gti with an 11.13/133.20 best ahead of Andy Mueggenburg’s new Impreza WRX Sti, (13.46/103.95) and Autenrieth’s 434-inch smallblock Lowe Performance S-10 pickup, (9.43/143.41), was easily the quickest of the GatewayRaceway.com Super Truck Showdown qualifiers when the rain ended the show.

Under Gateway International Raceway policies, the event was cancelled within two hours of the first run of the event and, therefore, all competitors and spectators were issued rain checks and no qualifying points or “Fastest Street Car” qualifier decals were awarded.

SPECIAL NOTE: As per the posted schedule, there will be NO DRAG RACING at Gateway International Raceway from Monday, July 14, through Monday, July 21, due to facility reconfiguration for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series event on the GIR oval on July 18 and 19. The Street Car Shootout Series will resume on Tuesday, July 22, 2008.
