Z28 or SS exhaust

Hey, as most of you probably know, I just bought a 2000 V6. It's a great car, but I'd like it to sound deeper. I'm also a student, so I'm on a low budget. I noticed a few posts about putting Z or SS exhaust on the 3800. What would that do to my sound? Also, would it be a big project for just me and a buddy or two to take on to change it ourselves, or should I just cough up the money and have a pro do it? Any info would be great!

It will definately change the sound, and you can find them cheap. I've seen them in the for sale section for as low as 30.00. As for installation It might take some welding to accomplish, but it's done all the time.

it will change the tone. The SS will be less restrictive, but i think the Z-28 take off will sound better. I recomend the WS6 take off. I have done two of them so far and they seem to sound the best. However, they sound much better on manual cars. It should take about an hour to put on. If you order one from SLP keep in mind you will need to have the reducer welded to the muffler because they cut it off right next to the muffler. Keep that in mind regaurdelss of where you get yours from. Youwill also need the 98-02 insolator and exhaust hanger. as well as two clamps. Other than that, it cake.

Go with an SS or Ws6 exhaust, they are less restrictive. Especially SLP optioned cars.

Just get any of the three (SS, Z28, WS6) that you can find for cheap - they are all going to sound pretty good. If you don't have emissions to think about - remove the catalytic convertor while you are at it. It won't make it "loud", and it sounds very good. And, if you aren't sure about doing it, get a professional to do it - exhaust leaks suck!
