what are the power gains with this mods

cold air intake
headers
ehxaust
cam
shift kit

how much more power gain over stock, is it worth spending this much money on a 3.4L

smithtim 10-03-2007 01:59 PM

have heard that the cam beefs up the 3.4 quite nicley but I've never done it myself so can't give exact specs... wouldn't expect to much with the headers/ehxaust stuff

geuss the answer to yoru question really bolis down to how much is the car worth to you?

it depends each mod builds on it self a little a cam by it self may add minimal horsepower but with an exhaust it might support the cam a little better because of better exhaust flow.

i have a headers and full exhaust and if it wasnt for the fact i had to replace the whole exhaust system i dont think it would be worth it. sad part is now im doing a v8 conversion this coming summer so it will be useless.

The shift kit won't get you anything. Between the other 4 I would guess 25-30 at the wheels. Should drop .5 or so off your quarter mile.

GRNcamaro 10-03-2007 09:10 PM

if u do that stuff you might want to talk to Texas speed about a tune to

FunkZ 10-04-2007 08:14 AM

Unfortunately Texas-Speed won't be able to help him. The only place that offers a mail-order performance tune for the 3.4 is fastchip.com

Garcia95 10-04-2007 09:55 AM

thank guys for the replys
mr. grncamaro you said you were going to v8, is there any chance you would sell your old exhaust system. if you do let me know

They can tune 97 and up V6 Fbody only. If you have a 96 you can switch to a 97 PCM and I believe they can tune it then, I know PCM4Less can do that. If they can tune a 3.4 Fbody PCM I would have mine in the mail yesterday.

Garcia95 10-05-2007 01:08 AM

well thanks guys learned lots of things

GRNcamaro 10-05-2007 06:17 AM

im wrong your right funkz

93v8clone 10-05-2007 05:37 PM

your really not gonna see a lot of performance increase with them the 3.4;s biggest downfall is the choked up plenumit looks big but a ping pong wont go into it its a huge restriction but do what ya want ya might get a little better but not as much as ya think

Garcia95 10-06-2007 01:41 AM

thanks

you know i have heard this before but if you use a long duration cam and hold the valves open a little longer arnt u going to get more air flow to the pistons?so now your changing it from the volume that can flow through but to the time it has. in a sense your manipulating the size but with out changing it.

also since the plenum is so large looking but the holes are so small couldnt the plenum be ported? not that im saying any one should wast there money doing that.

another big problem with the engine is the injectors are only rated for 160hp not that i wouldn't be easy enough to change them
