i called about a swap kit but i wanted a T-56 with the LS1 but its not cost effective to go from an automatic to a stick

Hey thanks for the information. I had been to Speedautomotive.com already. But, when I requested information on the swap I didn't get a reply. Then the other day we were out of school for snow and I called, well they seemed really nice and said he had been really busy. They seemed to know what they were talking about (and were much friendlier than this company in OK that "specializes in engine swaps". I have decided to go through with the engine conversion and will probably buy the engine with the T 56 by the end of the summer. by the way how did that T top conversion go? i heard they were really easy to install but I was wondering about leaking or anyother problems?

Why didn't you just buy a z28? It'll probably cost more to do the engine swap than you saved by getting a v6. Also, resale on a real z is higher than an ls1 swapped former v6. Not to be a **** or anything, but it seems like it would have been a lot easier to buy a v8 in the first place.

That's fine until you get in an accident and they only give you enough to put a V6 back in.

the reason i didn't buy a v8 in the first place is because i am a 17 year old kid. I bought the car brand new in october 2001. it was right after the tragedy of 9/11 and the economy was down so we bought the car for $15,000.00 and the engine swap will cost in the neighborhood of $6,000.00 bringing the total cost of the car to around $21,000.00 dollars. at the time the Z28s were around $24,000.00 and the SS was 7gs more than that. buying the v6 was good for multiple reasons. one being that i got one year of driving experience what a semi-powerful motor. not to mention the insurance. so by doing the swap i can keep insurance down and own a car that was less than a Z with the same preformance. plus what more fun then to throw some money down on a race with them thinkin it is a v6

I've been researching the possibility of doing the engine swap for nearly a year now. I finally think I have found everything I need to know. Basically the car came pre-bolted to fit both cross members the one for the V6 and the one for the V8 the only problem is you can't use your V6 Crossmember on your V8. so you are going to have to buy a cross member aside from the engine and tranny. you are going to replace the wiring (interior and exterior) the whole computer system is going to be changed. complete drivetrain from the airbox to the driveshaft. new exhaust and some other parts. like what someone previously posted speedautomotive is the place to contact. they know the exact extra parts you will need and will make a good deal with you. if you have anymore questions feel free to post them.

If you're having trouble paying your bills now, and are still in school, swapping engines to the V8 is only going to cause more problems for you.

Why doesn't anybody want to wait until they are financially capable to do things right the first time anymore?

I had a six banger while I was in college, did everything I needed to do and kept the police off my back and money in my pocket. There is plenty of time after college to get a Z28.
