Re: Not able to burnout? 3.8L Auto

mine shifted fine too, but check your mount, if the mount is going abd, which happens, then the tranny is sitting even slightly low and it will cause a large power loss. does it feel slightly slow upon launch compared to your 3.4? b/c when the mount went, it started to get slower and slower, but still felt like it was running fine. all i'm saying is check it. if its not the mount, then u saved urself 20 bucks, but if it is then u fixed ur problem :P

hmm I will, your right i do take off a little slower, partly due to the fact that i dont have a cat, making my tq less but more hp.

Not having a cat is not ur problem. i have a 3.4 and no cat and can burn them all day long w/ out droping the clutch. problem is more than likely ur suspension torqing too much or something. lemme know what ya find out. l8tr

having no cat would not make enough of a difference to make u feel it. check ur tranny mount, i am 99% sure thats what it is.

Re: Not able to burnout? 3.8L Auto

It's actually the traction control that is causing that problem. You have to take out the ABS chip, and it hould smoke the tyres right up.

Re: Not able to burnout? 3.8L Auto

lol I want to have ABS sir..

and suposedly 98 camaros didnt come with traction control -- only 99+ did.

I might try taking the abs out and then trying.

but like i said..

before intake manifold antifreeze leak + exhaust leak it would stop (in 1st gear with the break down) @ 2000 rpm..

after the fixes it stops @ 2500.. this is why i dont think its a rev limiter. / traction control.

Re: Not able to burnout? 3.8L Auto

Not only will it kill the tires , it will screw up your brakes... camaro's are known for ****ty brakes as it is...why would you want to mess up your car? How old are you anyway? The older you get the more you realize that if you want something to last you have to take care of it ...not beat the **** out of it.. I know it took me a few years to be able to afford a new camaro and I dont want to beat it ( like cars in the past) oh by the way,, mine burns out fine after I turn off the ASR button.................

Re: Not able to burnout? 3.8L Auto

wow dude u have abit to learn if u think the cat is keeping u from burning them, i had a 3800 96 firebird with no cat and a straight back exhaust system and i could burn them all day. i think u should look into the tranny post and the suspension post cause those are most likely ur problems.
