Unhappy my 2000 y87 firebird vs 95 neon r/t sport coupe. how did i lose???

yo fellas i just raced my buddy's 95 neon r/t last night and it was weird. i always beat him by like 2 cars and this time i dont know if i launched it too hard or what, but i spun a lil bit and he took me by like 3 car lengths i dont know if it was because of traction, or if are times are fairly close in the 1/4 mile. both of our cars are stock exept for intake and exhaust can someone tell me what they think my 2000 y87 firebird does in the 1/4 and my buddies r/t neon any comments would be helpful thanks!

on my list of times the fastest 90's neon was a 1995 neon sport coupe 0-60 in 8 1/4 in 16.2 which is equal to a 93 integra gs

1995 Chevrolet Camaro 3800 7.4 15.7

those are pretty close i could see how it may have ended in you losing once. wouldnt take much

I'd be totally pissed if I lost to a Neon in *anything*. You're going to have to kill the driver before he tells his putrid, ****-happy sidekicks that he beat a V8. Oh, he'll tell them it was a V8, too...count on that. Then they'll take turns sitting on his lap. Probably IN a Neon, too.

Really, I've seen this happen - it's disgusting the lengths they'll go to for some cornhole.

My friend from work has a red w/silver racing stripes '98 Neon RT. Their quick little cars. They run high 15's in the quarter. So they are just about even with a 3.8L. If stock 3.8's don't catch traction an Neon RT could easily take you. I've raced him a few times and came out on top like you did. I just made sure i got traction. Traction is the key, especially against fwd.

I don't have a problem with him now...but when i was stock, that was a different story.

hard to say was he modded? there is a group near us called 13th element "whatever neon is on the periodic table" And they had a n/a guy in the 13s, daily driven. So I assume a mildly modded one coudl hit high 14s, which oculd take out a stock y87 car.

the only thing he has is an msd ignition system, intake, and a catback exhaust. i dont think that would give him enough power to beat me. but i dunno it was like 45 degrees out that night and the ground is harder and not sticky like summer so i spun a loss. i just gotta laugh it out until i race him next time.. any tips at all on the most u can rev an auto 3.8 y87 before it spins cause usually i never spin and i get traction all the time prolly cause i got 18 inch chrome eagle 077's all around. lol

18's arn't good for much. I think they will be your bigest prob.
For stockish f-cars 16's are going to be your best bet for drag tires, and 17's to stick it to the ground.
I can't wait to get the TT's in the camaro. I'm going to waste so much rice.

My 04 neon has a cold air and nothing else. It goes 15.7

A 95 R/T can, with the simple mods you mentioned, go low 15's

They can DEFINATLE pick on a near stock v6 f body
