Misfiring?

This is a long shot because I have been trying to solve this problem forever now. My car has a pretty bad misfire whenever I smash the gas a little especially at higher gears and lower RPMs range (2000-3000). I am not referring about stalling it. It is a couple of quick misfires that seem like an electrical power to me but I've had no luck find it the problem. I have replaced the cat (which was shut), air filter, sparkplugs and wires, I even hooked it up to a computer and gave me nothing. Have any of you guys had a problem like this? It is a shame because other than that she is running like a champ.

Hard to tell for sure, but for 90% :) it's coil(s) or ignition module. Second common problem after plugs/wires. I had to replace my coils on my '96 last year to cure same problem.

oops, I forgot.... I changed the coils too. It actually started running fine right afterwards for about 2 weeks and then it started getting bad again. Someone suggested it might be the actual computer but I am uneasy about dishing out this much money.

Re: Misfiring?

Is it misses more in rainy/wet days? Moisture can get through seals under coils to ignition module. Check wires again, so they are tight on plugs/coils and not touching anything hot. Is there any glowing/sparks in the dark under the hood. If coils fixed a problem for a while it may be one of a new coils already went south. Plugs gapped correctly? EGR can be stuck too.

yeah, it get worse on rainny days and I have not seen any glowing at night. I know for a fact that the EGR valve is bad because when I hooked it to the computer it told me. Do you think this could be the problem?

Thanks for the help man.

Stuck EGR can cause hesitation/stumbling. It will idle rough too. Your problem looks more like a spark issue to me though.
