Now this is what I am talking about.

Found the links on one of the diesel sites that I am on, more than I am on here.

If it can make my 7500 pound truck run 13's........imagine it in here

7.3L (444ci) Powerstoke Diesel hot-rod.

I think I found a new donor engine for the Camaro

Imagine the look on the ricer's face when it belches out a big ol' cloud of diesel smoke out the back......oh hell yeah!!!

Wow! That's insane! I'll bet it'll run high 10's no sweat. The handling is gone though.

Well you would use a C6 or 4R100 tranny, and a 9inch rear. Use a cowl induction hood for clearance.

Get some subframe connectors, traction bars, and a loooong wheelie bar to keep the car from fliping over .........and off you go.

Keep in mind that the engine alone weighs about 1100 pounds...

When that guy is done it will be making 600hp at 2700rpm, and 1200ft/lbs at 1600rpm, at the rear wheels, with about 45 psi of boost.

The plan seems to be Nawwwwzzzz, LPG, and ton of other stuff.

10's..........talk EIGHTS!!!!!!!!

Hp is one thing, but when you have 900ft/lbs like I have, its pins you to the seat.

While the idea itself is uber pimp I dont think its the ideal drag setup.

Me thinks he's going to have an aweful hard time getting that much torque to hookup unless he limits the boost of the line. Figure most big block drag motors dont make 1200lb/ft peak much less at 1600rpm.

Definately a cool project though, im suprised no one else has tried it yet!

It'd be pretty funny to try running that thing on 245/55/16's.

Ford guys are so behind the times

The dodge diesel nuts already dropped a cummins into a dakota minus the innercooler and it ran 12's w/ no tunning and bad tires . They just wanted to see if it worked. Space is alittle tight, they had to put the radiator in the bed and are currently trying to rig up an innercooler and I think a twin turbo is in the works too.

Another such story is Mr. Banks who did the same thing and ran the truck over 200MPH to set the land speed record for diesel trucks

Mayron......where have you been hiding?

Behind the times??? Sure the Cummins makes more cheaper than a PSD, but does so with old technology.

Plus, those are still truck-to-truck swaps............not a medium duty truck engine to a car

In all seriousness, I'm not gonna waste that kind of cash on the camaro. I've wasted enough on it.

Gonna let it live its life as the slowest in the house.....and let it die as that.

So where's the problem That wasn't what I meant anyways, Just refering to the swapping of diesel monster engines into little lighter bodies.

Come on, don't give the dakota too much credit, it's a baby truck! Besides I can't imagine that mustang engine bay is much if any smaller than the dakota's. I'd rather have the power in a lighter truck over a car anyways. It's not like you'd be building a car like that for anything other than straight line racing as it's new heart would make it just slightly nose heavy. I think the Cummins weighs a tad over 1K dry; not sure about the PSD though.

We need to get together again sometime soon and have some diesel fun. I'm curious how you've come along w/ your PSD too, it's what got me into my diesel after all. When are you getting it back together?

Email or call me next time you're going crusing around too.

I might have to come visit you @ work soon come to think of it. I gotta smog my bird in a few months and I'd rather give my money to you.

Take care,
-Mike

Mike.......

There is bunch of my buddies and other guys having a diesel dyno day in Rohert Park, CA, Jan 18th.

See if you can make it.

As for mine, there is Holset H2 coming for it next week, and all the manifold, housings, up-pipes are being coated.

Plus there is a "insane" chip we are working on.

Say goodbye to passing smog

I would think you would have to reinforce the engine mounts and crossmembers, as a 1100lb engine would probebly bend or break something during the install.

I'd love to come by. Do you have an address or directions?

Sounds nice, but only one turbo?!?! I wouldn't think that could keep you happy for long

O how I wait for the day I can be pushing 80+ PSI w/ a sequential setup. EGT? what's that! :evil grin:
