Gonna run it at LACR wednesday night....need the 3.4 "guru's" inside
Alright.........
Its been 4 years since the last time I ran the camaro at the track.
Last time the 1/4 mile time was rather dismal.
Well now its got a catback, 2 new O2's, a CAI, and a little more experienced of a driver
I know what the truck likes when being launched, but what are your discoveries regarding the camaro???
Tranny shifter in OD??? or D???
Lets see if we can get it into the 16's...lol

Well, LACR really does suck as a track, and I haven't been there for almost a year.
I don't know all that much about launching the car. When I get my new tires, I'm going to see what I can stall it up to with the tires not slipping, and then launch like that.
That should provide the best times.

hard to tell you where to launch, especially with an A4, I would say, power brake a hard alunch out of it. I launch at nearly 4500 rpms
Dump what wieght you can, maybe even jack and spare also.
Since you have an open diffy, I would jsut deflat eth right rear, maybe overinflate the rest, run low gas, and I woudl ice the motor, and ush the car in the staging lanes.
ohh yea also call your car a piece of crap kick it and drool over another cool car at the track and those are the nghts I break personal records.

Good luck on the run man!Anyway, with an open-differential,it's kind of hard to say what RPM to launch at.My '95 lost it's open diffy about 2 months after I bought it so I can't even remember what it feels like to drive a non-posi car!
Anyway, launch the car at as high of an RPM as you can without spinning out of the hole.Plus all the other suggestions are great, definately lower the right rear tire PSI.I usually run mine around 22-24 PSI on track nights. Also, push the gas pedal THROUGH the floor just to make sure it's all the way down.I wasn't smashing the gas through the floor my 1st time at the track and I knocked of .2-.3 just by learning how to drive and PUSH the pedal down.Don't forget to let us know how it goes!

move your driver side floormat
jsut incase it gets stuck under the gas pedal.
Personally I think you sould put decent amoutn of air in right rear, go out on streets and launch hard, and if you have traction issues, lower the psi slowl, maybe even 30 psi.
I was experimenting and pulled my best 60' ever with 40 psi in th rears. And at the top end of the track it would be less frictoin on the track for the car, kinda like have narower tires

wanna a littel better grip off the line also....
-Empty windsheild washer resoivoir(no I am not joking
)
-remove fornt sway bar endlinks
-Go to backseat, and unhook the 2 bolts on the bottom part, and drag the back seat backing all the way to the back off the trunk.
-And don't be a wuss, push the maro through the staging lanes, I know you don't push the truck
-once you finally start the car, turn the AC on.
-and put the ice you had icning your motor in the cooler which is going to be where your now missing spare tire is.
-and remeber there is no such thing as babying a car at the track, its beat it now fix it later
-last thing ROCK ON!

Baby it????
It hasn't had a day yet that I have babied it...lol
As for pushing the truck........I rev the engine up and even powerbrake it in the pits to keep it warm......(remember diesel is a "heat" engine).
Thanks guys.......cool thing is that Wednesday nights is usually the slower of the nights that we can run (the other being friday's). So I should probably get 8-10 runs at least.
The tires in back now are my 35K mile old GS-C's....(they seem to hook better than the 10K less miles F1's).
I was thinking about getting the spare and the jack out, lord knows this thing needs all the help it can get....lol
All I know, is anything has to be better than that 17.70's it did last time, cause hell, the truck at 7000lbs did better at 17.30's.
Bad thing is that LACR......well...uhhh...SUCKS!!!!!!!! Its in the desert (so it hot).......its at about 2100ft up......and there is usually a headwind coming over the front right bumper (probably not too noticible in the camaro, but in the truck.......you know its there). The best run in the truck at LACR was 14.9 at 95mph....same stuff at Sacramento.....14.2 at 99.......or even Sears Point....14.5 at 97mph........same stuff......different tracks.
........we'll see what it does, 'cause next wednesday is the night that the school goes out and we get our own staging lanes........this is where the truck will win again......(won last year)
.....lastly.........thanks for the 411
