Difference between 1998 and 1996?

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a 1998 camaro v6, and I used to own a 1996 camaro v6. I was just wondering if there were any differences other than they slight facelift? I heard that the air intake was different? And did the '98's still have the misfire problem? Thanks.

Yes, the Intake is different, they have a lid instead of a CAI kind of setup. I believe its quite different, one being a 3800 series 1 and one being a 3800 series 2, not 100% sure tho. I'll let the V6 tech people hop in.

I think the instrument panel was revised in 1997.

The interior is the same from 97-02. The motors are the same in 96 and 98, they are both seriesII motors (they never put series I's in camaros). Your 96 could have had the 3.4L which is a different motor completly from the 3.8. The 3.8 has 200 hp, i dont remember what the 3.4 had. Like already said, it has a lid instead of the other type of intake, which is better i believe. Im not sure, but yours might have tubular manifolds (kinda like headers, but not the exact same), but that may have not started till 2000.

nope, last year for the 3.4L was 1995, california 95's had 3.8L's.

3.4L was rated at 160hp/200tq

And I'm pretty sure tubular manifolds were introduced in 2000 or 2001.
