cant get my highflow cat put in..
i keep calling places, when they find out its a 2002 firebird they won't do it cause its undner warrant and they'll get fined
then i have to answer the "why do you wanna put a new cat in a 2002" question too
what should I do sincec no one will put it in.. isn't there welding involved?
if theres no welding involved I'll put it in my self, need to buy some jacks first

As far as I know these are the "rules" from an emissions site that I found:
There are strict replacement rules for converters, which must be followed by installers. For vehicles still under warranty, only new car dealers can replace the converter unless the original converter is missing or has been physically damaged. For vehicles that are out of warranty, the converter can be replaced if it is defective or has failed an emissions test. Aftermarket replacement converters must be EPA approved, be the same type as the original and be installed in the same place in the exhaust system as the original. Installers also have to keep the old converter and a record of the repairs (including the reason for replacement) for a certain period of time.
Hope that helps.

There are a few shops that would probably install it in your area. I know when I got mine, I found a bunch of places that would do it....$85 seems high though. They all wanted $50, so I decided to take it to a friend's shop and install it there.
Technically, the shop didn't install it...I did, but with some help.

Look for an independent muffler shop.
