burnouts!
 

how come it is so friggin hard to do a burnout in my 2000 firebird a4 w68/y87 i got a posi wit 3.42's and everytime i powebrake to try to smoke the tires its a pain in the ass! it will never do it unless im faced uphill is it because i aint doin it right? or because there aint enought power cuz its just a six? my buddys 99 ws6 a/4 is so easy to burnout wit, prolly cuz theres 120 more hp. but anybody that has some tips for me about this please reply and does powebraking mess up your brakes? cuz i just got my rotors cut in the fron and the back.

It is mostly because it is a six. I don't think power braking is very harmful, not as harmful as other ways of peeling out at least, like a neutral drop. In the sixer I had, I would peel out in reverse.:o

my 90 v6 3.1 will smoke the tires all day long, its sooo friggin easy to do a burn out in it, to bad its just a one leg'er

When my v6 had a 2.8L it could burn tires all day.
I think your main problem is the auto trans.

my 90 bird as a auto tranny aswell, no probs with the burnouts, does anyone know if GM can pull RPO codes by entering your vin? cause the RPO sticker on my bird isnt for my car the VIN doesnt match so whoever had the car before changed the panel with the RPO codes cause its for a camaro.

I am pretty sure they can, using my VIN# they were able to tell me which lug nut caps my car came with.

you claim it wont do it... what does it do.. ?? my 3.4L can break both of em loose and blaze em if i want it to (and i have an automatic also)

its the 3.8L...

has a crappy low end and is gutless till you hit like 3,000 rpms... actually more like 3500 rpms...


Its a cinch to do a burnout in a 60* v6 has plenty of low end power...

roasted my tires till forever in my 2.8L and 3.4L no problem...

no problems here, just starts slower than the SS does.

I can lay into them pretty good with the 96, 3.42LSD, automatic V6. 235/55R16's with plenty of traction and if I stomp the pedal from a stand-still, she'll burn for a good 15 feet. :confused:

98+ cars, and prior y87 V6 cars have disc brakes, which are far supirior to drum brakes, making it much harder to break the tire(s) loose

put some 10w40 in a water gun and soak them rear discs and tires

My car has the 2.73's so obviously it has an automatic..i have no problem at all gettin the back tires spinning. If i stomp it from a standstill..it will spin all the way through 1st, and will shift into 2nd, while i'm only doin like 5-6 mph. Once it hits 2nd, it will hook up. Granted my car is a Z28..but i dont see why you cant powerbrake your car..my freind's 97 V6 camaro with an automatic can burn em pretty easy. Maybe your pressing the brakes to hard?? Have you tried adjusting the amount of pressure you apply to the brakes?? Whatever you do..dont soak your tires and back rotors in oil..thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard, if your car really cant do burnouts, dont go doin stupid crap like that.

i dont think i would ever put any kind of oil near my brakes or tires lol but i just dont know y my firebird has such a hard time burnin wheels i have the w68 appearence package and 18 inch wheels but that wouldnt stop the car from doin it? would lsd fluid help? i heard u gotta change it every 7500 miles. ive driven my car 10,000 ,iles so far witout changing it???

we used to use bleach too

my second year of college the kids soaked the parking lot in oil between the student housing and about 8 cars all rolled in it and smoked the tires until you couldnt see the building

a fleet of police showed up minutes later to stop the drnking in public and whatnot
