Battery volts drop to 8

not sure what the problem is but from time to time the battery gage will drop almost all the way to 8. the car is a stock 99 V6 with 20k miles on it, the alt was just replaced less than a month ago. the lights all flicker and dim and then it goes back to 12/13 volts and goes normal.

has anyone had this problem before? if i turn the steering wheel all the way to a side i can hear a funny noise and the batt volts drop, they drop more often right after acceletation.

thanks

why was the alternator replaced? often times if the alternator dies it hits the battery pretty hard when it dies, it may have caused the battery to not accept a charge as well as it should, thus making the battery fail now.. take it to an autozone and have it tested

I had my alt replace a while ago and soon after my battery went. It wouldn't hold a charge which meant a few jumpstarts. Now i've got a new batt and its fine.

Check your grounds cable, also check the engine to body ground and also some have a cable that runs from the neg bat cable to the body aswell.
