95 3.4 low oil pressure worries??
What's going on guys. Need a little help with my 95 3.4 Camaro. Just had this engine put in and guy kind of jipped me on it. Bought engine and got him to put it in because he said he would guarantee it if I had him to install and it ended up with an intermittent tapping noise that I've now tried to fix with mystery oil, Lucas, etc. but still have pretty loud intermittent tap. Think I'm just going to have to replace lifters or anything else I see but anyway it also will run low on oil pressure after it gets warm. Put 10w40 oil in it and it runs at around 60psi and then will gradually drop to just above 0 as it gets warm. Maybe at around 5 or so psi. I have changed the sending unit also so it isn't bad. The pressure rises up when I give it gas but I'm kind if worried about it sittin so low. I've had other 3.4 and they sat around 20 psi on average. Been told as long as I have oil pressure that I should be good, could be old engine. And also been told things like oil pump, bearings are worn, etc. little bit of everything. I know it could be lot of different things but I just would like to know if its something that is serious or if I should be cool with it and ride it till it kicks the bucket. If this one is doomed as a lasting engine then I'm just going to get a very low millage 3.4 from nearby used parts yard and install myself. Also, it runs really strong and normal. Other than my aggravating tap!
Any advice is appreciated.
