94 camaro vats problem
just changed the ignition in my sons 94 camaro, the wires on the old ignition were broke, We installed a new ignition and got a new vats key, the car will turn over for a second ,then act like the vats keys isnt reading, the car will not turn over, then it will act like its working, it will turn over for a second but not start, repeat. i am wanting to bypass it{vats}, i checked the ohms reading on the key pellet and get 601, is this right? all charts i see do not show a 601 reading as an acceptable one? is my issue not the vats pellet ? thanks for ANY HELP

Re: 94 camaro vats problem
Are you sure it isn't reading 6.01K ohms (6010 ohms)? That would be a valid value. Nobody could have made you a key for 601 ohms. The ignition switch has nothing to do with the VATS value. That information is only stored in the VATS module or BCM if a newer car.

yes, its is 6.01k i was reading on a 20 k ohm scale, i believe it is the ignition switch on the steering column, will try that,

Re: 94 camaro vats problem
As I am sure your know, the mounting hole slots on the switch are long, allowing a lot of adjustment. It may just need to be adjusted to be sync with the key lock. Trial and error is probably your best bet here.
