Work truck vs 330i BMW
well my work ride is a 2008 Dodge 2500 heavy duty 4X4 Cummins TD. Im working in MD, and I was on my way back from work tonight and just for the heck of it i had the jake brake on going from red light to red light. I got some attention becouse a new beemer jerks around me at a stop and throws a couple of revs. I wait for the light and pull out normal until i hear him chirp his tires and obviously he's WOT. I get in it too but he's already pulled a car on me, he shifts second hard and chirped some more. I catch his bumper and from there to 95mph i pulled to his front door and was still reeling him in when he let off. I didnt do the fly by and let off too. at the next light he was apprehensive to roll his window down but after about 30 seconds of me grinning down at him he did. Older guy mid 40's and his wife, he looks over and says "you got that diesel pumped up there dont ya" I said no, its stock Next question, That thing 2WD??? Nope 4X4 Then he said, D*mn those deisels make some power huh! Well this things pretty fast too.. LOL well its not exactly a kill, or camaro related but it was fun, and surprised an import with a 9K lb truck. So what are these trucks supposed to run anyways?

Torque, baby- lots of torque- prolly has some seriously low axles, too-
There are some guys that drag them, and run propane injection- not recommended for long life, but they do make some serious power-
I have a buddy with a new duramax and a car trailer- pulling a car, he is still faster than a lot of cars on the road-

A stock 2500 is lucky to run a high 16 in the quarter and trap around 80 mph. I guess there are cars slower than that out there.
I have romped a few 3 series in my Hemi though - 6k lbs even with me in it. It all depends on which engine and if the driver knows what they're doing.

the dodge's are heavy, my buddy has a 05 4wd, 4door dually, has no muffler, and a bully pup on performance, will defiately at least keep up with my bird, well when it had the 3.42's. he ran a 15.7 spinning badly over 60'.

Meh, diesel trucks racing makes me giggle so much cause most diesel drivers think they are some god send. Then they lose to the car. Nice race for you, atleast you never nagged the race on from the start the other guy did

I've plastered a long line of 3 series, mostly older - some newer, in my truck. It fares much better than my 15.9 timeslip sounds like it should. The Hemi is soft at the launch (almost like having VTEC) but from 3k and up it gives fits to Maxima drivers. Of course, the 3 series has been made for a long time so there are naturally many variations. The standard college-kid-issue variety hasn't been a problem for me - especially the tarted-up 4 cylinder versions. 230hp was good for the mid 90s. It's maybe adequate today, when an average Hyundai Sonata is packing that for $21k.
In the 335i, you get a good bit of car to go with the engine. For the 135i, you're paying for just the powertrain with hardly any difference in cost between the two levels. I'd have a hard time justifying the 1 series over the 3 except for a track- or race-only type car.
BMW finally caught up to where Toyota's engine was 15 years before. If Toyota put a version of the Supra's engine in the IS series, they couldn't keep them on the lot. The IS-F is ok, but nothing says "mod me" quite like having a pair of turbos hung on an all-forged-internals engine straight from the factory.

Actually a 135i vs a 335i coupe is about 6k difference. I don't know where people come up with the hardly any price difference theory. It is also a smaller quicker car that handles and brakes better. Stock brembos etc. I drove both and actually liked the feel of the 135i better. The 6k I saved is going towards a tune, wheels and suspension. Yes I plan to auto x it but that was not the only deciding factor towards the 135i. The 335i felt like a boat to me. I do like the looks better of the 335i coupe though.
