took out a 5.0 mustang..
... in my moms vw pasat 
honestly, i think this may have been the closest race ive ever participated in.
we both pulled out of a parking lot, i got alongside of him, we both nail it. immediately he gets about a 5 foot lead and by about 40 mph his side mirror is at the middle of my car. from 40-80 he is CREEPING and i cant stress that word enough. he shut down at about 90 with me in the lead by about 3 feet tops.
his car ( buddy of mine) - stock, kn filter, mufflers
passat- bone stock

He said 5.0 so that means it could have been anything from an 82 5.0 - 93 5.0 which makes it minimum 15 years old, probably ragged beyond death and stock. Maybe puts down 200rwhp with a 5 speed in it's hey day.
Versus what could be a newer turbo Passat - the VW could very easily walk a ragged out 5.0
Hell i've seen some 5.0's in such shape that my 4.0l Exploder could walk them

A base 1998 Passat with the 150hp (rated) engine runs the 1/4 in roughly:
1/4 Mile (E.T.) 16.5 seconds @ 84 mph
Dunno what year this Passat is in the story but if his buddies 5.0 is an AOD car it could easily have happened.
The newer turbo VW's are pretty quick and probably wouldn't have trouble taking out an older 5.0 car.

thanks fella.. to be honest i dont give a crap if you believe me or not
darkhorse- its brand new, like an 07 or 08 and its the turbo 4 cyl. it makes 200hp and they typically run mid to low 15's stock
and his car is a 93 with a 5 speed but i wouldnt doubt it if it needed a tune up or something, it is a ford..
im not out to say that 08 passats are 100% faster then all stock fox bodies.. but in this case mine was.. by about 3 feet lol so to all those who posted thanks
