Me and my friend were just out cruising around last night looking for a race. We were parked in the lot of an old Avis rent-a-car that had used to be there. We were sitting in the car listening to music and watching differant cars go by just waiting for a good match. All the sudden my freind looks to his left about an 100 yards and yells "lets go". So by the time I get the car started the cars are passing right in front of us. It was a 04 GTO and a 99 Cobra. As they went by the Cobra threw a rev at us and now we had a 3 car pack going on. So we all come to a stop light and the passenger in the Cobra yells at me and asks me if we want to race and of course I did. So we went kinda out of town and parked in a big church parking lot so we could talk before the race. The Cobra had already beatin the GTO a little earlier so I wanted a crack at the Cobra first. The Cobra was a 5-speed (not sure if they all are) and we headed out to the road to get the race going. We had to turn around in a VP parking lot so we could get going the other way back where the GTO was sittin in the church parking lot. As we were going through the VP parking lot there were some punk kids sittin by there peice of crap trucks and one of them yelled " the camaro is going down". So we line them up and he honks 3 times and we are off. We were pretty much side by side through 1st and right after i shifted into second I started pulling and held a good 2-3 cars on him till we let off probably somewhere around 100mph. We get back to the church parking lot where the GTO is sittin waiting for us. The kids in the Cobra pulled up before us and were already getting out as we were pulling up and I heard one of the kids in the Cobra say "damn that car has alot done to it" and then the guy with the GTO says "well i guess there really isnt a point to us racing then huh". The kid in the cobra said stock the 99 Cobra's ran 13.7's, I thought they were about equal with a Mach 1 which I have read is a low to mid 13 car depending on driver. Anyways, its always good to know that my old car is still faster then alot of the new cars out there. Peace, Dustin.

Guy in the GTO must be a crappy driver. Should have beat the cobra easily, and made one hell of a battle for you.

Yea all cobras are 5 spds...generally a decent driver can run a 13.7...a Good can get a mid to maybe a lower 13 outta it....Mach 1's are probably a few 10ths faster and generally trap a few more mph's.

 

Actually the 03-04's are 6speeds(supercharged)

 

actually you guys are wrong mach 1...are lower down than cobra in price, and hp: mach 1 has more tq...just for you guys info

mach 1: 305 hp, 320 tq

cobra: 320 hp, like 315-317 tq
