My dad has a 98 GT 5-speed and it's plenty weak. I'd imagine somewhere in the mid 14s at best. I've never heard of a 96-98 car getting in the 13s without some sort of power-added. My friend Tommy ran a 13.20 @ 106 or so with a supercharger on his 98 GT 5-speed and he can drive.

Exacly what I said mid 14's w/ a decent driver...Now if a Lt1 generally runs lower 14's how is it that a GT will need a heads and cams to hang lol. Heads and cams are good for atleast 30-50hp...depending on the application. Both motors in disscussion are basically obsolete anyway so does it really matter.
Went to the track a few times when I had my old 97z w/ a buddy who had a auto 98GT. He couldnt drive to save his live....Had a very mild stall w/ 373's and a catback and he hit higher 13's pretty consistantly.

If they ran mid 14's then you are correct, bolt-ons would only be needed to run with a stock LT1. I was going off of my buddy's times versus mine, and he had a long way to go to catch up to me.

b, fw all stand for the horsepower rating of the engine before any parasitic loss is taken into consideration. It is what the car companies use to quote the numbers you see in brochures and on television.

b is base though.

It's actually "brake", but it just means horsepower at the motor.

Right on the money, the ''brake'' comes from the fact that the engine is put on a water brake dyno that tells hp of the motor with all of the accessories and exhaust but no trans or rear.
Until the early 70's brake hp was tested with no accessories or exhaust so there were some high numbers out there.

lmao i cant belive this was even being discussed..

2v 4.6 motors are crap. do they run 14.1 stock? NO
do they run 14.1 with full ( $2500 ) of bolt ons? maybe..

do you really find that worth defending?

aftermarket heads for those sorry boat anchors flow less then 250 cfm.. its a joke.

nice race man, sounds fun. cant win em all right? get that tune and find that sucker again

I'm already on the lookout for him. I'm 200lbs lighter, good gas in the tank, and a tune.....that snake is in trouble.
