ok all i see here is a bunch of tight pantied fbody owners. the 03 cobra guys NEVER posted anything other than a link containing a video of 2 cobras. then i see a bunch of inflammatory remarks from fbody owners that have some sort of small man syndrome. you people seriously need to get a life. THE F-BODY IS NOT THE BEST CAR EVER MADE. NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE. get that through your head people. we all chose these cars for the same reason the cobra guys chose the cobra. ITS WHAT THEY LIKE. get over yourselves, you all sound like a bunch of whiney little bitches, what with my car is better than yours. i know i dont give a DAMN if a highly modded LT1 can take out a slightly modded 03. I DONT CARE. no one car is better than another. grow up.

If you don't care then why are you reading and posting? It seems really odd to me. I find stupid posts (from my perspective) on this board all the time; I stop reading them because I genuinely don't care. I can't understand the idea of posting to brag how much you don't care and don't want to read about something no one forced you to in the first place.

Honestly, I wish my car was as fast as a Cobra. I wish my car could pull 500 rwhp for $1,500, but do you know what? It doesn't. For a long time I hated the Cobra just because it was faster than me and I couldn't stand it.

Now with all of these SRT-4s, STis and Evos coming out, it seems to be the only american muscle which isn't $50,000 that can easily put these cars away. Stock for stock boys -- I don't care if an old LT1 can be faster with this and that added.

Good job Ford,

Personally, I've ridden in my share of mustangs and the big thing that bugs me is their interior. Absolutely atrocious if you ask me. I know the Camaro ain't no bread winner either, but there is just too much plastic in the Mustangs. Also, with the way you sit, it really doesn't feel like a sports car -- it doesn't have that low down cockpit feel the Camaro or vette has.

You'll need to spend 2K to get to 500Rwhp.. The 500 extra for the Ported Eaton.

And i agree about the Mustang Interior but **** it... So far i have 1800 in Mods and i'm Deep into the 11's.

I'm alittle late on the whole 'arguement' in here, oh well. Im pretty neutral in this entire discussion, but the only thing i want to chime in about is the price comparison. ~34k for a cobra, compared to ~50k for a z06, but isnt the mustang still just insanely powerful mustang? one that shares alotta similarities (well, from the outside) with the base, v6, 14k sorta mustangs. Where as a z06, or any vette, is at least an entirely seperate car, not just a camaro on steriods.
Soccer moms in minivans might get the two mustangs confused, but they can at least realize a difference in a 'maro and a vette.

Talking

I love both camaros and mustangs, but you dont see me going
on a mustang forum and posting some stupid nonsense about how my exaust sounds, thats just retarded. I'd love to own
a cobra, but I certinally would'nt be thinkin I had the fastest car out there and I could walk all over ls1's. someone really needs to put him in his place

i posted because this whole "arguement" is stupid. the cobra guys came on here and posted something that was NONDUROGATORY towards fbodies, and a whole bunch of butt hurt fbody owners started flaming. the arguement is assinine. the cobra is an AWESOME car and does everything the fbody did only better. and they get flamed for it. why?

also as for the looks of the car, why would it matter if it looked like a base mustang? sounds like some people buy their cars for the status and not the actual performance. FWIW, the Z06 can look exactly like a lesser base model. you need the side scoops, and wheels. hell theres many fake z06's running around here and you wouldnt ever know unless you looked at the badges or they told you.

The only differences between a Cobra and V6 or GT Mustang are...

1. Engine (basically...everything under the hood)
2. Fuel system,
3. Tranny,
4. Rear axle,
5. Tires/wheels,
6. Brakes,
7. Suspension components (sway bars, shocks, struts, springs)
8. Seats,
9. Gauges,
10. Hood,
11. Front bumper cover,
12. Foglights,
13. Rocker mouldings,
14. Rear bumper cover,
15. Rear spoiler and 3rd brake light,
16. Fender emblems,
17. Airbag cover
18. Side mirrors (body colored, folding)

So it seems that the basic unibody, a chunk of the interior and the gas tank are the same...other than that, not much is shared.
People making these comments fail to mention that the SLP F-bodies were not much more than tape/sticker packages with bigger tires and wheels and a catback (in some cases). Loaded SS's and WS6's stickered at or over $35k...for nothing more than an appearance package.

Yeah, but to me it still looks like a base mustang with wider tires. I drove by a '03-'04 COBRA a few days ago, and coming up from behind it, it just looked like it was a little lowered with wider tires than I'm used to seeing. It's a very plain design for a car with that much power. The hood is very plain.

Personally, I think the GT's and MACH 1's have better looks than the COBRA.

Regardless, I like the COBRA, but I'm very surprised that FORD didn't differentiate it a little better.

If ford wanted the cobra to be one of their powerhouses, they should have at least shlapped a different shell on it, or a different name, made it seem as worthy as it is.
the srt4s are fast, but its just a mega neon.
cobras are fast, but its a mega mustang.
If ford had made the cobra more than that, it would have commanded more respect in all aspects. The same as a vette commands more respect than an fbod.

No offense, but you must be blind. Not only does Cobra sit lower, and have wider tires, it has a unique decklid spoiler and 3rd brake light and completely different rear bumper cover with the word "COBRA" embossed into it in 6" wide letters.
How can one not recognize it as a Cobra.

Cobra isn't a different model, as Corvette is to F-body. It also doesn't cost twice as much as a GT or Mach I, as a C5 did compared to a Z28.
The funny thing about these comments are that there are dozens of legendary cars produced that were based on common platforms. Hemis, Shelby's, Chevelle SS's, turbo Buicks and countless others were based on more pedestrian versions...with nothing more than an upgraded drivetrain and suspension. Ford isn't building a completely new car, they're improving an existing model.
Again...it's ironic to hear F-body faithful complain that the Cobra isn't as unique as they'd like it to be. SS's and WS6's had nothing more than a different hood, wheels/tires, rear spoiler (SS only) and catbacks along with a few badges to differentiate them from basic Z28's and Trans Ams/Formulas (which, ironically, looked very similar to V6 cars ).

You posted about smacking down LS1s and expected it to not turn into a sh!tfest? Come on...

I have respect for the new cobras, but I don't really like them. I've never liked the way the mustang looked, with the exception of the 5.0s- a black paint job and some fat tires on the rear can make those look pretty good.

If I ever have the yearning for an overhead cam engine I'll get my hands on an LT5 and drop that in my Camaro.

LOL, yeah those are BIG changes.

The only time you notice the cobra embossed in the bumper is when guys put the gay chrome or reflective letters on it. I think it's very common to do that just so people recognize it as a Cobra. Otherwise you could easily miss it.

Third brake light? Yeah, I always look to see how many brake lights are on a car.

Like I said, the only thing that sticks out is the lower stance and wider tires, which a stock Mustang could easily accomplish.

SO that only leaves the decklid as the only noticable distinguishing factor. Yeah, big difference over the base model.

Like I said, I don't hate the Cobra; I just think FORD should have distinguished it better. I do like the stance it has with the lowered chassis and better wheels.

Dan.
