Talking Raced a Orange '04 Mach 1 10-22-05

Well me and my son was coming home from a local HS football game
and we stopped at Burger King to get food. After eating and leaving
we stopped at a light and a '04 Mach 1 (Orange w/ Black) pulled
up and he looked at me and said let'us do. So.....we did just that. We
both took off at the light very hard but the LS1 was pulling for "LIFE &
DEATH" so I ended up beating him for about 2-3 cars. I slowed at the
light about 1/2 mile down to exchange words and he told me that I had
a very fast and nice looking car. I told him thanks alot. He told me that he
was in it hard and he had NOS. I have very little problems with Mustangs
either GT's,Mach 1, and Cobra's but a ZO6 or a Viper would be different.
There isn't alot of F-Bodies where I stay in the Mid-West.

IMO, you didn't beat a Mach I with spray unless you have mods that you're not disclosing.

Re: Raced a Orange '04 Mach 1 10-22-05

I just concluded a search of your previous posts and see that your car is a 99 LS1 automatic with 2.73 gears and is mostly stock.

Let me have a little of what your smoking, because its probably some good stuff. If the Mach had NOS (Nitrous Oxide) alone with the rest of the car stock he would have pulled you ! end of story.

The Mach is geared better than your car and will hold with you all the way through the 1/4 mile.
You also say you have very little problems with Cobras...Hmmmm

Yes but he didnt say if it was an auto or a manual. I have raced my sisters stock auto 04 Mach 1 and beat it. Ive heard that the auto's are quite a bit slower than the manuals.

Agreed on the Auto , but still if the car had nitrous like he says it should have taken the auto 2.73 geared LS1. The reason I say this is that the Nitrous kits for the 4.6 usually are around 125-150 hp increases. Now if he was spraying a 25-50 shot then the mach wouldnt fair well.

Conclusion is even a mostly stock auto mach strapping on 125 shot of spray will run 12.70s easily. I know because we have one in our club with the only mods bieng done is K&N replacement filter, flows and the bottle (125 dry shot)

I see there is alot of replies here about this so let me explain more. My
son (which is 15 yrs.old) and I raced a '04 Mach 1. I heard that he had NOS
on his car but I can't confirm he used it though. I am not making this up.
I don't know if he was into it all or sandbagging it just to see what I had.
We hooked up and that's all I know is that I beat him by a good length. My
mods are simple: 20,000 mile (auto) car,Lid,K&N,MAFS,SLP CAI Kit,High flow
Bellow,160 Stat,Ported TB,TB Bypass,No baffles,GMMG exhaust,ASP
Underdrive Pulley and SSRA. Everything else is all factory. No LT headers,
LS6 intake,aggressive cam,serious modified heads,Yank SS 3600 torque converter,cut-out, NOS and 4:10 gears. I didn't know what was going on either.

I am not totally up on LS1 mods, but can you have a Lid, SLP CAI, high flow bellow and no baffles? Idono, I just seems like me saying, LPE CAI, no stock air filter box, 1LE elbow, no stock intake elbow. Not trying to come of cocky, I just dont understand. Doesnt this just all qualify as lid? Good kill, I ran a Mach 1 and got roasted a few mods ago, but he also ran DR's and ran high 12's.
