Need to know if I have a chance?
 

Ok, a friend of mine has a Mit. 3000 GT VR4 with twin turbo's, stick all stock. I'm pretty much stock myself. Just have cold air, AS&M Headers and borla catback. Do I have a chance or will I get smoked? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think it will be pretty much a drivers race. I think you can take him.

What do you run in the 1/4 with those mods? Like 13.5 13.4?

My best is 13.3 in the 1/4. I'm not shore what the 3000 GT VR4's run at stock. He claims that he is a 11.0 second car? He say's that the turbo's have been modified, not shore excactly what that means. Again thanks to all who replies.

Not really sure what those run either. I think in the high to mid 13's. I could be wrong though. I think someone on this site has one. But if he has his boost turned up, or bigger turbos then watch out. Your in for a run. But go for it man, no shame in losing to a boosted twin turbo car. Good Luck;) .

No change he runs 11's stock.

Who owns a vr4 that runs 11's stock :confused: . I would like to see that.

If he's indeed stock, you should beat him. It will be a decent race until around 80 mph. After that, you should run away from him. Back when I had shorty headers, intake, and exhaust I ran a 13.6 @ 104 and I ran a lightly modified VR4. It was close to around 80 then I ran away from him pretty good. My buddy with similar mods did the same thing to the VR4.

Now that is bone stock, he could have turned up the boost on his turbo's which could be a problem for you. BTW good 1/4 mile time. (What mods did you have to get that 13.3?)

Stock you'd beat him with a good launch. But with him messing with the turbo and probably upping the boost. Sorry man, I think you are toast. Damn those turbo's.

If that car is awd twin turbo and if he has modified the turbos it could easily be an 11 second car.I have an talon awd turbo.Stock single turbo with minor mods cars have run low 12s record for lightened one is now high 11s and big power turbos are cheap really.So that car could easily be up to 500 engine hp for not that much money..maybe 3000 or so.All you need really is bigger pump,bigger injectors and bigger turbos..and mabye bigger intercooler or water /alco injection.

If he is awd he will crush you off the line unless you are on et streets even nittos likely wouldn't be enough.

I hate to say it but I think turbos are the ultimate power adder for any engine.thats why I think will get me some twins for my 99 ls1.

Give an update if this race happens.I think it will be ugly for your car..sorry but you have mabye 350 engine..Those cars have 300 bone stock.

I am gonna have to say that he is probably just boosting more psi. I think it will be close and he will barely win if he is boosting. I doubt he has much more then that or you would know about it. Keep us updated, good luck.
