Morning hustle....WRX goes down

So I am driving to the daily grind minind my own business when a set of headlights proceeds to tailgate me

I hate tailgaters and even more so when there is no where to go...but I pay it no mind and ease off to not tailgate the vehicle in front of me

The car behind me slows for a few seconds with me, then I see the headlights squat and the car speeds up and changes lanes.....(this guy is attempting to cut me off...in a cavalier most likely) So I drop to third and go for broke....

Well I pull away and the car never gets past my rear bumper before I am walking away.....I close the gap and slow down

I look to my right and what do I see....a burgandy red WRX complete with STi shopping cart wing and no-name 17" wheels

LMFAO

Poor kid....doesnt even look over at me...kinda puts his head in "shame mode"

Not much of a "kill" but a nice laugh and a great way to start the day

I can only imagine the hurt I would have put on him at sea level

WRX with an STi Wing...now way an STi (doesnt come in this color)

Sea level NA cars are much stronger than at elevation as turbo cars are much less effected.

By comparison for my elevation 5-8 tenths for NA.....the Turbo cars are lucky to squeeze maybe 2-3 tenths at sea level.

Great for them....bad for NA

Nature of the beast I suppose

And how did you see that he had no name rims, and that they were 17" if you were both moving that fast? Your eyes are better than mine my friend, or else this story has some bs to it.

Hmm, most of the turbo cars i've seen around here seem to lose just as much power as n/a cars.

Because I know what stock WRX rims look like (aka silver) and the ones he had were gunmetal and the sidewalls were thinner

20/15 vision but who cares?

If I was gonna BS about a kill....I would choose a much faster car than a WRX....This is the second WRX I have killed from a roll and everyone here knows how slow a stock WRX is from a roll

It wasnt so much the "I killed a WRX" as it was "I clowned a tailgater who thought he was gonna own me in my chibic"

Part of the beauty of owning a civic is embarassing "faster" cars when they least expect it

But just to be safe I'll slap some gears in and run another WRX from a roll.....can you say MURDER lol

17psi is 17psi is just takes a little longer to spool 17psi because its thinner.

You know NA cars and density mean everything for power since we run at atmo pressure.....

Is this how it works? Sea level is 14.7 psi of atmospheric pressure, normally. At 4000' I think it is about 12.5 psi normally. So a turbo car at sea level with 17 psi of boost would have 17+14.7=31.7 total psi. That same turbo car at 4000' would have 17+12.5=29.5 total psi. So the turbo car going from sea level to 4000' would lose about 7% of its total boost. The n/a car would lose about 15% of it's total boost. So the turbo car loses less power as altitude increases. Also, the turbo car could turn up the boost easily at altitude to compensate where the n/a car is basically screwed. Is this how it works?

I am afraid so.....which is why running a Supra running 19psi at 3000ft is not a good idea for an N/A car

But nobody cares about density.....in the end all that matters is who wins and N/A cars unfourtuantely are at a greater disadvantage...sea level is where the Apples to Apples comparisons can be made but most of us nationally are at some type of elevation giving the boosted guys the advantage straight out the gate.

You know how many people here beleive in correction factors but they are based on the facts of life and as long as you can gauge baro and temps the factors are pretty dam accurate...

Time to buy more mods

Are you sure about that? At high altitudes the turbo would have to spin faster than at sea level to make the same 17 psi because it is sucking in much less dense air? The turbo automatically compensates by spinning faster and faster the higher you go, to create 17 psi above atmospheric pressure in all turbo cars?

im just wondering, how do you know for sure that the guy floored it? Theres been countless times when ive tried to pass someone up accelerating 1/2-3/4 throttle just to have the ******* gun it thinking we were racing.OMG i mustve died a hundred times!!!

Right because I am running a 16 sec car that traps 89mph

Get a clue

So now the WRX wasnt even trying? Doubtful but it wasnt the point....I could run him from a stop and still beat him....the closest a local WRX has come to running similar times with me at the track was BPU + 50shot

If he went halfass ...his fault...if your gonna go then do it...dont go half ***...lose...and complain about being in 5th gear

I wasnt "racing" anyway jeeze some people

Eventually, after his launch eats you up for a good bit. This is assuming he can drive well and will abuse his car some.

This is exactly the ******* behavior i was talking about when i posted. Everytime someone with a kwik car is around them, they think the race is on. How is tryin to pass you up,losing? you guys didnt count to three or didnt organize anything, maybe he was tryin to get even with you to race, but then, being the ******* you are, punched it. Maybe it WAS a race but how do you know for certain?Im not doubting that your car can beat a WRX from a roll, but does this really constitute a "kill"????

It sure sounds like the WRX was racing. You weren't there, what do you know? A 101 trap speed car like Sergios would eat up a stock WRX from a roll easily.
