me vs. cobra
i've been seeing this nice, white '97 cobra running around my neck o' the woods for several months now and finally got to have a bit of fun with him.
the first run was from around 30 mph. i motioned for him to take the jump, but he didn't. traffic was coming up behind us (it was a 45 mph zone) so i hit it first. my car drops into low, and even though i'm spinning a little, i start to pull pretty hard. 2 gear comes and i'm 1-1 1/2 cars out and still pulling. on the 2-3 shift i'm about 4 cars out and let off because i'm closing fast on traffic ahead.
second run was closer from a 50-55 mph roll. we both hit it at the same time and i start to pull again, though not as hard (he must have been in a good rpm range for 2 second gear). i'm in it 'till a little past the 2-3 shift (about 90) and lift because of traffic, but am unsure as to how far i was ahead when i let off because i was too busy watching in front of me to take a look back.
we stop breifly to check out each others rides, give props and to bs. iirc, his car had a cat-back, k&n cold air kit, nitto dr's, and upped fuel pressure (he said he picked up 15+ on the dyno by raising his fuel pressure 4 lbs). he and his passenger (a cobra owner, too) were both cool, knowledgeable peeps. i'm glad we got to have a go!
