Loss to a 99' GT

Hahah so I lost a race yesterday I should have had ...

Raced a friend with a 99' GT, M5, Anniversary Edition, with Pullies, CAI, and a Spec clutch. He was by himself. I had a single passanger.

He said I jumped him on the line, but I didn't get into it until he did? He totally out drove me on this one though. He dead hooked, pulled two cars, and I spun all the way to redline in first. A little in second. By 3rd I started to SLOWLY gain on him, but it wasn't like I was about to walk all over him.

I actually was pretty suprised though cause my car feels a good bit stronger to ride in. Even though I had no traction through first, I thought I could reel him in faster and pull it off.

Still was fun though. And there will be a rematch lol.

Impossible..How could a 2V GT beat you w/ less mods when a LT1 is a drivers race w/ a s197 GT's stock for stock

lol lack of traction. Severe. And a horrible launch cause I didnt think he was gonna go. So basically, he got a jump on me, I spun all the way through first. A little in second.

Hahah I even said it in the beggining that he totally out drove me on it. So needless to say, a rematch will be coming. I've raced a few others, and they never were a problem lol.

Dan I live in Baldwin if you know where that is.

Long Story Shot : I pull out fast, he gets a jump on me, I mash it, spin through first to redline, spin through half of second. Once I got traction he instantly stopped gaining. Was outdriven. Plain and simple lol. It did kinda suck though. So I may have to set things straight. He said he would go from a roll again if I wanted since he heard me spinning so bad, but women race from rolls ...

You must have some really crappy tires or something.

Tires do kinda blow through first gear. From a dig, slow roll, fast roll, etc. it lights them up pretty easily.

Also noticed later in the night, a slight tick. Radio was on before. Pulled valve cover, and trunion bearings are shot on a rocker. PCM is picking it up as knock and retarding timing. So add one more to my list of excuses.

The only way my tires light up is if I dump the clutch. 245/50/16 GS-D3s.

What tires do you have? Any guess on your rwhp?

Goodyear Eagle GT-HR's. 245/50R16's. They hook OK if I lay into first, but if I just mash it down, forget it. It just bakes them.

Never had it on a dyno, but it does run pretty strong. Like I said, I've manhandled a few GT's before, and it was dead even with my uncles Ram Air LS1 car with a Lid, may have had his cat back on it at the time too ? Im figuring 290ish cause thats at/around what most bolt on LT1's with a M6 will lay down.

Next time you need a new set of tires, pony up for something good. You won't regret it!

Believe me, tires are on my list of things to do. I wanna get rims though, so im holding off. Plus these have a good bit of tread left.

I want something so I can run 305-315ish tires in the rear. I like how the Z06 style ones look but who knows what I'll end up with.
