I actually had fun getting beat......
Today, I ended up behind the most cherry perfect red on black Chevelle SS convertible. It looked like a '69 or '70. The Chevelle SS is usually just an "OK" in my book, but this one was gorgeous. Stock in all the right places and modded in all the right places. If he wasn't slightly tubbed, he was close, because he had massive rubber on the rear without sticking out past the fenders. I'm talking twice the width of stock Z28 tires, easy.
Big block, of course, so with the new 383 I thought things might be interesting. With him in front, we both hung a left onto a straight 2 lane highway and sure enough, he drilled it. From 20 to about 90-ish, he pulled about 3 cars on me. We were both nailing shifts and it really was a thing of beauty to watch that 30+ year old car dig in and fly. We are not eeeeeeeven talkin' stock here. His car would be deep into the 12's, at least.
Anyway, it's not that often when I don't mind losing, but if I had to go down, at least it was to a fine lookin', fie runnin' vintage Bowtie bigblock. No shame in that.
Of course, I still haven't bolted up the headers or made it to the dyno for tuning. Next time, he may not have as much fun.

I'm the same way man, I don't mind loseing to a nice cherry older GM car. I've raced a few older Vettes that handed me my *** and enjoyed the hell out of it. Just listening to them is alot of fun for me.
