Cool Highway Run With M5

The other day on the way to work I was going down the interstate trying to make it there on time while still getting use to my 65 mile round trip drive everyday ( ignore the earlier post as I just accidentilly posted). I noticed something coming up on me quite fast so I got over as soon as I passed a Saturn. He came by me and slowed down to where his rear bumper was at my nose. I dont know if it was for my viewing pleasure or what but I guess he was making sure I seen the M5 badge. After pacing each other for a minute or two, I see a puff of black smoke as he starts to accelerate. At first I was alittle hestitant but said the hell with it and down shifted to third. Didn't know if I would catch the guy but thought I would try since the old bird just had a head and cam swap (gas mileage kind of sucks). After going thru third and putting it into fourth, I noticed something. WTF, I was catching him fairly quickly. Next thing I noticed he got on the brakes before I could get around him. Oh well, It would have been a win but I guess he didn't want his seventy thousand dollar car being passed by a seven thousand dollar over milaged 95 T/A. I'm just glad I didn't change out my 3:42's for 3:73's.

Working on the sig. Problem is I never get on here very much anymore. With two little ones, a new house, and a busy work schedule, its getting hard to find any free time. As far as what the old bird is equipped with, its got a crane cam with 222/230 duration, 509/528 lift with 1.6 pro mags(543/564), 112 lobe center, some mildly ported LT1 heads with pushrod guides (nsa roller rockers), cloyes double roller, csi water pump, hooker long tubes, 52 mm BBK throttle body, PCMFORLESS tuning, and about every other engine bolt on imaginable. Its also got BMR STB, subframe connectors, panhard rod, tubular LCA's, and PST lowering springs. Its got Borbet Type T 17x9.5 rims (kind of ironic since they equip Beemers with these)with GForce KDW's. I'm still looking for a torque arm for it. Decided against the 3:73's since it has serious traction problems. Its been a work in progress for the last 9 years and has been a reliable daily driver. Kind of proud to say I did all the work myself (except the heads). Hopefully in a month or two it will be retired to full time toy status (bought a pos 91 eclipse for a beater). After that if I can afford it and justify it to my wife, an ATI Procharger set up will be going on it and we'll find out how long the stock bottom end can handle it (been fed Mobil 1 its entire life). I wasn't real sure how the cam would work out but other than gas mileage being the only problem with it, its behaved pretty decently. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, if I keep my foot out of it it knocks down about 17mpg on the highway. I think I'm ready to run my friends 63 Stingray again that I lost to about two years ago. I think the outcome will be different this time.
