u can say i am a gto hater. But i still respect its american and has a gorgeous LS2 under the hood w/ a 6 speed. But yesterday my buddy and i decided to hit up a local Split second for a bite to eat at dinner break from work. We pull out of the detail shop and a 05 gto turns out infront of us completely sideways. We look at each other and figure hell ya, Been wanting to race one. We pull up next to him and ask if he wants to hit up the bypass for a quick run, he responds "my nitrious tank isn't filled". I asked him "why do u need nitrious" and he told me "for cars faster then mine." Right away he started belittling my car with his buddy in the seat next to him laughing at me. Now i don't know his mods for sure but i can tell it had an intake, nitrious w/ an unfilled body (so he says), and it sounded like it had a lil more grunt when he got on it, so maybe long tubes with stock exhaust which is common in my area on gtos it seems. I finally get him on the bypass and i explained to him briefly that we can't go from a stop cuz there would be to much traffic. So after he did like 4 ricer fly bys on me as i was downshifting we find a perfect straight away no cars around. He would not go below 70.... which is stupid to me. But his buddy hung out the window counted 3 and we went. he got the jump of about 1/2 a car, both of us being in 3rd.. He shifts to 4th i wind out third to 6200 and shift a couple seconds after him. i am about 1/2 a car ahead, onto 4th i proceed to pull another 1 1/2 cars on him to the end of 4th. Lucky no one was around, don't really like going that fast on the highway. The look on his buddies face was priceless as we pulled away! I read that they are extremely strong on the highway, but found it weird he had to shift to 4th before me. Oh well chalk one up for the ol' F-body.

yea they have a LS2 but there still pretty heavy...good Kill...Most have been running lower 13's ive seen so far

i honestly thought with a 400hp engine they would still be faster then me even with my bolt ons. I mean my race weight was 3820 with me in it 1/8 tank of gas and no jack and spare. this time i had a 160 pound passenger 1/4 tank and the jack and spare so i had to be pushing 4k pounds if not real close. How much do they weigh?

 

C&D says the 05 GTO weights 3800lbs. Heavy cars.

Pontiac has them listed as 3725 lbs.
Also, since there are no stripper cars, they are all roughly the same weight.

 

cav will be out with a bigger turbo and more boost in a couple. and i didn't wanna race u. cobra didn't wanna run apparently.
