Do I have a factory freak?

I got my 94 Z this past feb after totalling my 93 two weeks before, by the way it had 27K was bone stock since i have added a cutout and cai. I have beaten three ls1 SS camaros. I have heard the stories about the factory freak LT1's just wondering if i had one if so thats kinda cool. The last SS I ran was at a stop light he asked me what kind of exhaust i had and i told him just a open cut out right now so he said oh so u have bark but no bite and the light turned green and he sped off so i follow him we get another stop light after about 7 blocks so i put my car in nuetral and rev up at him he looks and revs back, i do my normal take off routine hold the brake all the way in rev to about 2000 rpm and when the light changed I let off the brake and eased on to the gas until I could floor it without traction problems and i got off the line faster than him and the nose of his camaro was at my back bumper the whole time we shut down at about 75ish

No, you dont have a freak, you beat a bad driver, or he was just playing with you.

Get that thing on a dyno or to the track and report the results and we will tell you if you have a freak. Also list all your mods.

Don't believe in "factory freaks".

Freak drivers? You bet.
Freak tracks? Yup.
Freak dynos? Sure.
Freak weather conditions? Without a doubt.

Factory freak cars? Nope - no such animal. Most such thoughts can be attributed to the above.

Yes there are factory freaks. On the same dyno two Identical LS1 cars can dyno 20 WHP apart, and also some cars just are stronger.

Exactly, factory variations in the assembly line process.

Re: Do I have a factory freak?

Im gonna get dynoed so I can find out what she puts on the ground, and as for right now my Z only has a cut out , and a homemade cai , serious modding process under way. I want a daily drivable setup but that can still haul and pull most cars one would encounter. How does hotcam kit , shortie headers, electric cutouts right under the headers on the Y pipe , 2800 stall, 3:73 gears and a Nx 100 shot sound

if you get shorties i myself and alot of others on this board will kill you
get Hooker or JET JOT LONG TUBED headers and yes you can get them emission legal, i prefer illegal (best way to go )

Believe what you wish. But let's look at your statement and use a hypothetical example to see how it pans out.

YR1 cars have an average RWHP of 300.

Doobie's YR1 dyno'd at 310.

Goofy's YR1 dyno'd at 290.

Each is ~3% off the average, but Doobie's is 20 RWHP higher than Goofy's.

Does this make Doobie's YR1 a "factory freak"? I think not.

Further, the dyno is a tuning tool - nothing more, nothing less. It is virtually impossible to accurately do side by side comparison's on two cars. You can get close by using the same dyno on the same day in a very short amount of time under extremely controlled conditions. However, there are still too many variables to make it scientific.

There are freak drivers, freak tracks, freak dynos, and freak weather conditions. Don't believe in factory freak cars.

Re: Do I have a factory freak?

race him up to 110 or so...which should be 1/4 mile (plus a little)...he would have tore you up probably.

75mph is less than 1/8th mile...don't most 1/8th mile runs trap about 85mph?

sounds like you raced him about halfway through 3rd gear...which is just where the LS1 starts to shine.

do a full race instead of quick little jumps

Be responsible and DO NOT race him on the street @ 110MPH (unless you're in Germany on the autobahn). There are to many lives at stake including yours.
