Cammed LS1 WS6 gets smacked by older Supra

Black T/A Ram Air M6. Had exhaust and a mean lope. Who knows what else?
Pulled next to him with on 1-270 after being next to him in DC and he kept goosing it. Finally after clearing I hit it with him next to me. Got him by about 2-3 cars to 110MPH and he let out. I was very excited because a 2003 Cobra was on the other side(in fact I called Blackhatch to let him I know I was going to be in a "threeway"). The 03 didn't want to run. The T/A got off the next exit so no more action with him. I was disappointed

Oh well

I have a third generation Supra(looks like a 92 but is a 88)

Thanks for reading.

So what do you have done to your car to "Smack down" a cammed LS1? I would bet it's some extensive mods......

Hi Sean!
I am still around. Here are some shots of my R blocked Mustang from late last year:

http://www.mk3.us/mike/stang/buildup.asp

03 Cobras can be wicked even with BS mods. I will run. My best time in a stocker is 12.79 at 112. Of course with BS mods they can hit 120MPH traps and run mid 11s on DRS Monsters for sure

Supra mods can be found here toneloc12345:
http://www.mk3.us/mike/supramod.asp

Wih old combo I went mid 11s at 124MPH on pump gas. Even hit 12.0 t 121MPH at 75/80 on pump gas(slowest track in the world) which can be seen at http://www.mk3.us/mike_timeslip.asp.
I added more mods and knocked off about 120 pounds(these cars are tanks). My car despite having a stupid ricer tip looks stock.
Last dyno was 520RWHP on pump gas.

Thanks Brian. He is doing well and his car is pretty fast and sounds like the devil.

Mike. Nice kill. I'm looking at your web page and trying to figure out what turbo you are using. I see that you ported some stuff, have a few exhaust and intake pipes, and have a pretty nice fuel system.

There's a "Turbonectics" T04e listed... You might want to fix the spelling on that.

Yeah, if its the same one I'm thinking of, its my buddy Brian. He's got an '01 black WS6, w/ a nice little dent on the driver's side rear 1/4 panel by the hatch. Has chrome WS6 wheels up front w/ chrome Y2K vette wheels in the back... it's loud, FLP LT's, ORY, GMMG exhaust, with an FM-14 cam. The cam install was done at a buddy of our's house. If this is the same WS6 I'm thinking of, I dont know why he tried running you. I ran him from a 15mph roll to 125 or so, and he didn't pass me till around 105, and mine is bone stock. The car needs to be tuned BAD!!! That and it doesn't help his clutch is a little "iffy". Anyways, just thought I'd chime in because he does work up north, and it sounds like the same car. Nice kill none-the-less.

If Brian's basically hanging with a stock LS1, he def needs a tune. In GMHTP magazine, guys with a cam and tune are running 10s. The potential of the LS1 is amazing. At any rate, the fact that a tuned 88 Supra can beat a stock LS1 is no small feat. Hats off to Mike for tuning his Supra so well. Those things are dogs in their stock form. I would love to have a ride in that 88T.

And why did Brian try to run a 88 Supra? I would run one in my 94 LT1 if I thought it was a basically stock 88 Supra. He probably thought he was going to blow him away but was in for a rude suprise.

I am running a To4E now with a welded on internal wastegate. I have a SP61 as backup because I don't know how long it will last. I made a boo boo on the dyno#s-best dyno was 512RWHP and 520FT pounds of torque. One secret of the car's performance is the weight-its about 3450 without gutting. The headwork was also extensive but still runs stock valves for good velocity down low.

Hi Scott I am fine. Hard to believe we have been on this board since 1998?

Jon I believe the car had stock WS6 rims. It also had guages on the a pillar. I have no idea if it was the guy you knew.

My Supra has tons of mods so its a shallow victory if you think about it. Believe it or not I have beaten 3 heads/cam M6 LS1s in Belair before. Of course I got lunched by an A4 ET street heads/cam car BADLY from a stop.
Thanks for the kind words but I didn't dial in my car. James Daily did who ran 10s in his Mk3 Supra.
If you are in the area you can drive it.
FYI for the others a stock M5 Supra like mine was a high 14 sec car at best-the 89 and up due to more weight got slower and slower. But with any power adder car mods means a dramatic increase in power. My car ran mid 13s with BS mods and drag radials. Unlike the newer Supras this car is super heavy, not as forgiving in terms of abusing it and the motor not as stout as a 2JZ in terms of strength.
