99 Cobra?

My best friends sister said she knows a guy thats real cocky about his Mustang and likes to race. She called him up last night and asked him about it but he was out of town for the weekend. He asked what year camaro I had and she said 95 and he instantly agreed to it. We told him my car was stock What do the 99 Cobra's run?

A 99 cobra will run 12 second times with 4.30's and exhaust..You will lose if he knows how to drive it........

99 only had 320 hp, less if it was never takin back for the recall. 99's are not supercharged. I highly doubt this kid runs 12's.

'99 Cobras with "The Fix" should run about mid-to-high 13s.

Re: 99 Cobra?

To clear a few things up, the 99 cobra runs mid 13s... It's slightly slower than Mach because it has the IRS... I'm pretty sure it runs faster than the 98 even though the 98 had the regular axel. There are no blowers on any mustangs except the 03/04 cobra. Options to look out for: Any aftermarket blower would most likely be centrifugal. FR500 Heads and Intake are a nasty upgrade for those cars. It's important to note that those cars cant support more than 425 or so hp without rebuilding the engine. (03 cobra, however, is forged and supports up to 650 safely).

Re: 99 Cobra?

Whatever haters..I run 12.89@106 and I don't have a damn supercharger. Cobra's put down more rwh than I do so they can run 12's easier than I can.....On the other hand if the car is stock then you guys are right on, mid to low 13 for a stocker........

Re: 99 Cobra?

Mid to higher 13's w/ your average driver....some have hit lows...w/ gears and tires they can hit 12's

Re: 99 Cobra?

well..the 99's are complet dawgs even when fixed compared to the 2001 n/a cobra..i have a ford article that befor the fix it dynoed at 236rwhp and 259rwtq ish..after the recall only dynoed at 260 and 275ish.. compared to the 01 which dynoed at 270 somthing and 285lbs..they couldnt even break the 99 into the 13's stock..it ran like 14.3 at 95-96.. and the o1 ran 13.5s at 101..somewthing like that..you should have no problem with it..

Go tell Bob Crosby that. Regardless of what magazine you might of read that comment couldnt be any farther from the truth...After the fix the 99 and 01's performance are closely comparable and in the right hands a 99 is capable of any stock or modded time a 01 can accomplish.

Re: 99 Cobra?

I ran a 13.05@105.89 with only 1.94 sixty in my 95 convertible Z, which is now sold. Car had over 100,000 miles only mods where: CAI, Mac shorties, crane ignition, and an air foil <-- wanna list everything, and a high flow cat. Now this is a convertible, ChevyTuff has more mods. Are the times in your sig. with those mods? Just curious because my 1/8th was a 8.4@83.7. Im just saying Lt'1s can definately outrun a 99 cobra and get in the 12's fairly easily as well. Gotta remember the driver mod. This was a 6 speed car as well with factory clutch. Ohh one last thing nothing removed from car execpt jack and spare tire.

Just race him and see what happens. Those are a close match-up and alot of times becomes a drivers race.

Re: 99 Cobra?

"Fixed" 99 Cobras dyno about the same and run about the same as 01 Cobras. High 13s is pretty regular, with the better drivers/conditions seeing mid 13s.
