98 vette with corsa catback VS me

my old times are 8.37 at 84mph with a 1.91 60, this was on pretty poor condition DRs with a toasted posi and 90 degree heat, however the car made 291.0 rwhp 324.4 rwtq, this is an A4 btw, my buddy is coming back into town and wants to run me from a stop and from a roll in his 98 vette, its stock outside of a corsa catback and is an auto as well, only mods since my times are the addition of rear pro stars to match the skinnies up front, new nitto DRs, and removal of my catback, im curious what do u guys think, will i swamp him or am i toast(and no i havent fixed the posi but shouldnt really be an issue with the new tires)

I agree. It won't be a beating, but he should be able to bag 3 or so carlengths over the course of a full 1/4 mile.

Get some sticky tires and from a dig it will be very close, get a stall and you will beat him from a stop with tires.

I'm probably the only one here that thinks you'll get him. Providing you don't blow your launch.

honestly i think it will be fairly close...IMO, it will all depend on your launch. make sure you only run the quarter tho. he will more than likely be motoring on you up top.

EDIT: 8.30s at 84 would probably yield about a 12.80 or so in the quarter, so u DO have a decent shot at winning IF you get out on him off the line. good luck.

cool...i think i'm gonna stick with the 3.42's i can get a whole rear out of a v6 bird with 3.23's for about a couple hundred bucks....but i don't know if i could trust buying used....Curry's quoted me $340 labor on gear install...if i supplied the gears, he put my mac's on and did a good job so i go to him most of the time

I think you'll get him since you have drag radials. I have never seen a stock C5 with street tires go 8.3's in the 1/8. I know they produce more hp and are much lighter but Ive never seen it.

I know I ran one on the hwy not to long ago and let him get the jump and ran him back down just tapping the throttle as I pulled past him but then again I have more mods than you. Good luck either way.
