96 Z28 vs 01 S2000

My friend just got a 01 S2000 and thinks its SOOO FAST! lol.

I told him its a 14 second car. He swore he could beat me. And so did a few ppl who drove in the car with him.

My one friend knew I could take him.

So we lined up.

1st race:

20mph roll. 3 beeps.

I jumped out to about 5 cars by 120-130 I had about 10 cars on him.

2nd race:

30mph roll. I gave him the leave

He took off put a car on me then I took off...ran past him no problem. Put about 8-9 cars on him.

Good times!

S2000's seem fast because they rev so high and because they're geared ridiculously low... that's why everyone thought it would be faster.

That just goes to show you that what feels fast and what actually is fast are not necessarily the same.

Next time, race from a stop like a real man.

Odds are good that the S2000 owner didn't want to go from a dig. They're notoriously hard to launch well. The car magazines said if you pulled away from a stop at anywhere under 6k rpm, the best WOT acceleration it could do was 8+ seconds to 60.

Yay VTEC!

Yea. Thats exactly why we didnt go from a dig. I was so confident I said like yo I will even race you from a roll. He was VERY happy I said that. I knew exactly why.

They rev rediculously high.

I had one leave me once in when I was in my GN a while back. Granted I was sideways through 2nd gear (crappy Goodyears), but he was GONE! I figure it was either blown or turbo'd. Wasnt riced out either. Nice sublte body kit and stockish looking exhaust.

Ive seen one with a GT35 go 12.4x@125 (i think that what is was), and it was unreal. But I agree, they are geared for highend. And I hear parts arent cheap at all for those cars.

HAHA, Sorry to hijack, but its relavent. I raced an S2000 a little while back in my 01 WS6 from gas station to gas station. He was talking **** at the first one and after the anihilation, he told me how pissed off he was because he just bought it because it was "fast". I saw him driving a week later...with a for sale sign!!
