'95 mustang GT gets owned
My buddy has a '95 (I think), the last year for the 5.0 GT, 5-speed with an Edelbrock upper Intake and K&N filter, and I think a catback. He wanted to race me, well he raced my friends Honda, 5-speed. The Honda won by at least 4 car-lengths both times. I don't think he wanted to race me too bad after that. With respect to the mustang guy though, the honda is forged internals and can rev to 10,000rpms. I think the best it ran was a 14.4 @ 98, the V-TECH kicks in at 6,000.
As soon as they reached the end of the race a State Cop popped over the hill, but apparently wasn't running radar.
We get back into town and we (mustang and me) are stopped at a red light side by side. I give him a hard time by revving my engine up at him. The light turns green and he takes off, I lay into it, pass him just after I shift in to 2nd, get ready to shift into third, put look in the mirror and he already gave up. I passed him pretty quick. I asked him the other night if he wanted to race and he said sure, but I never did see him out later that night.

Not that it really matters at all, but its V-TEC.
Variable valve timing with electronic lift control.
It is often praised for its greatness, but I've yet to see one hit 12s in stock form. Also the higher end V-TEC cars such as the S2000, and the Acura NSX don't even get good gas mileage.
Whats the point of making torqueless wonders if they are 1. slow and 2. get poor gas mileage. Seems kind of silly to me.
Arguably I guess you could say because the engines weigh less, but its my understanding that the Acura NSX engine weighs approximately the same amount as the 5.7L LS1.
As far as that Prelude revving up the 10,000RPM. That seems unlikely and also pointless. Imagine the kind of money you would need to get the engine to be able to rev that high. It would probably be a better idea to just turbo the 2.2L engine and call it a day.
These cars are not setup for drag to begin with, they are front wheel drive.
