05 Mustang vs 95 Camaro

Just wondering if any of you have experience racing the new 05 mustang gt?
I'm going to be racing my dads in a few days and wondering how well i'll do.
Mods for the Stang are, cai,cat-back,chip. Its a 5spd with stock gears

My camaro is a 95 Z28, 6 spd, cai,hooker lt's, cat-back, cc 305,1.6 rr, short shifter, stock gears + ****ty clutch

If any of you have raced an 05 please tell me your mods and the race outcome.

not to sound cocky, but i did beat one presumably stock beat bad. looking at the mods you listed for both cars, i would call it a drivers race.

I dont think you should have a problem especially with your mods but at the same time dont expect to put bus lengths on him. I raced one at the track awhile back and beat him by about 2 car lengths. He said his mods were catback, programmer, and cai. Btw it was a 5 speed. I kept hearing that they were real slow cars but this one was alot faster than I expected. (their rated 300hp at the crank, so I dont think their that slow)

Re: 05 Mustang vs 95 Camaro

the thing thats gonna hold your car back is your clutch and maybe stock heads. A cc305 plus le1's are good for easy 12's. 05 stang GT here ran 13.8 w/ a 100.xx 1/4 but thats at 2700ft. it will probably be pretty close, post with the results.

You DO NOT need heads and cam on an LT1 to go 12's...

I would expect you to beat him fairly well with your mods. I haven't lined up with one in my TA because its currently under construction, however, I raced one at the track with my wife's Grand Prix GTP. I'm not sure of his mods but I ran a 13.7 to his 13.6. Needless to say, he was a little surprised by the 4-door sticking right with him.

im not saying you need h/c to run 12's. you can do that with alot of boltons and a good driver. but heads sure do help and he already has a cc305 and 1.6rr, which is comparible ( little less hp) than the cam in the le1 package. That package says to make 350+ whp. Even a crappy 60ft you can make high 12's with supporting mods.
