'01 SS vs. '03 C5.....camaro won
I have a pretty much stock '01 SS with the only mods of SLP headers, y-pipe and loudmouth exhaust, along with a lid and bellow. I went up against a '03 vette and beat him, is this a normal thing? Because I though the vettes were supposed to be faster.

Haven't dynoed yet but I plan to pretty soon.

Actually the Camaro and Corvette run very similar times in straight line performance. Anything that involves turning the Advantage goes the Corvette, very quickly... Good Kill BTW.

I'm with stupid. Dude you have a decent amount of power mods, what did expect to happen. Good kill btw! |
Re: '01 SS vs. '03 C5.....camaro won
I wouldnt say pretty much stock..you have a full exhaust and lid...LTs add alot of power...C5's are generally only a few tenths faster stock...totally normal

Re: '01 SS vs. '03 C5.....camaro won
Telling the Vette he was "pretty much stock" was probably the only way he got one to race him ;)

haha yeah....My uncle has an '04 vette that he thinks is just unbeatable....we've got a $100 wager on the race. :D

How did we get from stock LS1s putting down 290-310 to 330? Completely stock?? I don't think so. It seems like the numbers keep going up everytime it's said, lol

Re: '01 SS vs. '03 C5.....camaro won
The slight changes over the later years of the LS1 really upped the average dyno numbers fairly significantly. There are alot of M6 01-02 SSs and WS6s especially that put down in the 310-320+rwhp range bone dead stock. Kinda ridiculous, lol... Of course those in the 320+ rwhp range probably all have the SLP options, which I think were a lid and catback...

On the same note, what do 01-02 A4 Z28s usually dyno? I'm assuming (quite conservatively i hope) at around 280.

Re: '01 SS vs. '03 C5.....camaro won
hope over to ls1tech.com they have a dyno section and some of the stock '01 '02 numbers are crazy (320whp). Some with Lid, LT's, x-pipe and tuning are getting a little over 350whp. Mine with lid and catback might get me around 310whp.

I know they respond very well to mods and I know how they've changed over the last few years of their lives to improve the hp. But the majority of people dyno around 290-310 completely stock. I know you always have the exceptions, I just don't want to see those numbers get out of hand like it was an import throwin on some stickers or something
