think I need new control arms
crazy loud creaking noises from the front of time I brake or hit a bump or accelerate.
Anyone know where I can get new control arms? i found this: Its out of stock and I dont know when they will be back in stock. |
Re: think I need new control arms
Could be the ball joints, could be the bushings. Those are the parts that typically get replaced, not the complete control arms, unless the control arms are bent or severely rusted.

Looks severely rusted to me.

There are other brands beside Dorman. Have you looked for them? Maybe they are all from the same source.

Depending on cost, aftermarket may work better. If it were me and stock replacements were 250, I'd spring the extra cash and upgrade.

I had a similar noise issue that started at 60K miles on my 1996 SS.
After replacing every rubber bushing, ball joints, springs and the shocks at 130K miles, I still had the noise after a short drive. It turned out that the very ends of the front sway bar were cracked. |
Re: think I need new control arms
Try RockAuto.com for all you replacement part needs.
You could also upgrade. I like UMI. |

Anyone familiar with mevotech? That a good company? Dorman is on backorder for months.

I swapped out my poly control arms cause the poly started to deteriorate after 15+yrs. It was making a loud clunk on speed bumps. Replaced both upper and lower Control arms with mevotech and it's been great. Comes with ball joints and all. Ebay was cheaper then rockauto and Amazon. No complaints.
