springs only

Can I just get some springs, (eibach) and mount them w/ my stock shocks? Also is the pro kit, or sportline kit better?

Yes you can install just springs but the stock shocks are poor performers and you're handling won't be the best. The labor to install front springs is the same to do shocks as well, so it's best to install springs and shocks at the same time. The Eibach Pro kit gives a nice stance with acceptable ground clearance; the sportline kit will really reduce ground clearance.

If you are worried only about looks, and dont care about ride...springs alone will work. ;)

As far as which are better, it depends on what your goal is. Wanna be 'slammed'...then use the sportlines. The prokit is a compromise between the sportlines and stock as far as looks are concerned.

If you're hard up for cash and just have to lower it, cut a coil off the stock springs with a chop saw.

^ You COULD, but that might ride worse than just springs and no shox.

As stated, to do the front springs, they have to be removed from the shox. It looks like a McPherson strut assembly, but more like a coilover setup. Hmm, I'm not sure how the LT1 front end is set up. You'll need supporting suspension stuff to sucessfully lower it. An adjustable PHB would be the main thing to center the rear end.

The backs take about 20 min to change springs... You can almost do it blind folded. Remove the PHB to get the rear to drop down a little more, and disconnect the bottom shock mount.

I have the ProKit, I can tell that it would ride like crap with out the good shox like revalved Bilstiens. THey do a good job of controling the bounce. I felt it a little bit when I first installed the kit, but I got used to it. stiffer ride.

It won't ride worse.

I just cut my stock springs last weekend. With the stock shocks it rides a little bit stiffer but really, its not bad at all. I've had worse riding cars (not Camaros) then this one. When I get some money together I'm going to get Koni SAs. One coil off the front, one and a quarter off the back. 27" from ground to top of fender all the way around.

I have lts, and im getting some zr1 rims, so I dont want to lower it to much. Maybe an inch at most. It looks like the pro kit is what im after. Thanks for the help

Prokits sag. Look into BMR or Hotchkis if you just want 1".
