Rotors?
I was looking to do a rotor upgrade. Currently, I have 18 inch wheels and am looking to maybe purchase the Baer GT rotors. Will I have to replace my calipers too? Or can I get away with being a tightwad and keeping my current calipers? Also if anyone has any suggestions as far as rotors for a 95 F-Body let me know.

everyones response will be LS1 swap guaranteed

Basically, what im hitting at is, how big a rotor can I go on an LT1 without replacing the caliper?

You cant go any bigger. If u want alot of bang for your buck, swap to the LS1 system you can do it for under $200 which includes everything. Its a dual piston caliper and also uses a larger rotor than the LT1 stuff.

I believe there is a Baer rotor that works. You'll most likely find that after you run better pads and some decent replacement rotors in the 11.9" size (LS1) you won't need the Baer rotors.
You could also do a C5 rotor swap up front. |
I've never driven an LT1 car so I can't compare that to the LS1 setup, but the difference between my stock LS1 brakes and the Baer rotor / Hawk pad swap was very noticeable. They're not real cheap parts but definitely worth it.

Just a pad swap is very noticable.

My only concern is that iIhave 18" rims and am looking for some rotors that would look proportionate to the rims. I am kind of new to this idea, and i just want to make sure i make a wise investment. The only ls1 rotor upgrades ive seen for sale are the ones on ebay and the only thing that concerns me is what kind of shape they are in...

If you have 18" rims all year round on your car, you should throw on some Corvette brakes. It takes the LS1 upgrade to an even higher level.
|
And you can still run less expensive LS1 calipers with the C5 rotors.

Yeah, C5 brakes and no, your master cylinder will be just fine.

I'm in the process of doing a full swap on my 97.
LS1 brakes front/rear with 2-piece Baer rotors up front, 1 piece Baers in the back, hawk pads all around and stainless steel lines. Hopefully it will stop like a sun-of-a-gun cause the 97 single piston and drum brakes were not cutting it especially just regular braking while going highway speeds. |
Yea seriuosly, these single piston calipers just arent cutting it for me. I might as well just bite the bullet and put a dent in my wallet if im going to do this.
