Noise coming from the rear

I've recently developed a weird clicking noise coming from the back of my car. I can hear it slightly while I'm driving down the road and it gets louder if I put on the brakes softly, but if I push hard on the brakes the noise appears to stop. This is a really annoying sound it sort of sounds like bad brakes but I don't think it could be that because I can hear it when I'm just cruising. If anyone could help with this I would appreciate it.

mine used to do this b4 i developed a wheel bearing problem. its a real pita to change them, so id try and make sure thats what it is. some backyard hillbilly mechanics might tell you to try and see if there is play in the axle, but mine went out with no play at all.id bet that its the axle bearings.id just do a rear gear and all new bearings while your at it.i found axle bearings on ebay w/ seals for 10.99 ,both wheels.you can get a gear and install kit for $200 from summit.good luck!

Someone I talked to brought up that it might be the brakes dragging? Is that a possibility?
