Exclamation Need help ASAP with ABS system!!!!

I am replacing the ABS motor pack on my 1995 3.4 camaro. In the instructions from ALLDATA it says i need to release the tension on the motors using a program on a PCM/ABS scanner. I do not have access to one nor do I want to pay 300 bucks to pay a shop in labor. Is there any way to release the tension on the motors without this? Are the motors ALWAYS tense?
Would disconnecting the battery cause the PCM to release the tension also?
I need help ASAP thanks.
