LS1 Brake upgrade. Which parts interchange?
LS1 Brake upgrade. Which parts interchange?
I am thinking of upgrading my front brakes to LS1 brakes since after the cam install the stock 93 (which are already worse than 94+) brakes are pretty much worthless. My question is... which parts interchange? Can I use my stock knuckles? Spindles?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: LS1 Brake upgrade. Which parts interchange?
You spindle/knuckle is not going to be used. You need a 98 and newer knuckle/spindle. There really isnt a spindle, it is just a knuckle. You sealed hub bearing can be reused if they are ok and do not have flat spots or areas where they bind. Obviously the calipers need to be changed, as do the rotors and the pads. I have hears the brake lines can be used, but I got a set of Earls stainless lines and I love them. You are going to have to rebleed the system anyway, so why not do front and back at the same time and put on new stainless lines. After that you will notice a night and day difference. It blew me away how different it was. Good luck, and give a yell if you are having a hard time finding the stuff. I think I know where a setup is.
