How can you tell if your springs are bad?

How can you tell? I'm hearing some knocking in the rear at low speeds when off the gas or brake... only this time it's not the driveshaft which is weird... I can hear some squealing and my mudflaps bottom out when I turn but they used to do that anyway... It really SOUNDS like my shocks but I know the weight it carried on the springs so how do I know if they're bad?

Do you have a posi rear? If you do, I have a feeling it's that.

I suppose you do since it's a Y87?

My car did something like that a few years back. It would make a clunking sound when I was rolling to a stop, and around turns. I changed the rear diff fluid and now it's gone. Just something to look into. Don't forget the limited slip additive!
