Brakes question...

Will 12" Rotors and Brakes fit under my 16" Wheels?

Reason I'm asking is I saw some Brake Callipres but the item description said they were 12"'s ?? Is this the actual callipre or the rotor? Thanks.

Re: Brakes question...

everyone I ever talk to says new rotors are just appearence mods... and they break ten times as often as oem. now calipers and pads on hte other hand, strap those to oem rotors, and you get about the same stopping power as aftermarket rotors.

Re: Brakes question...

Incorrect.

Drilled rotors are all eye candy. Not all new rotors.
OEM rotors suck hairy siverback gorilla testiclesess. They are a very light casting that is very prone to warpage. Stock LS1 front rotors weight ~16lbs. Decent replacement blanks 18 lbs or up. IIRC Bremo weigh 19 and Baer over 20 lbs. All stock sized. Then of course you could always stp up to C5 brakes. 13" rotors are not just eye candy.

Now the question I have is: How long will it be before this thread gets moved to the BRAKE section where it should be?

lol i was thinking that... but really though I thought the stock rotors were good for stopping untill you hit serious race cars with serious HP output.

About this long to get moved to the correct forum... sigh

Sorry about that, I was just extremely short on time when I made the post and couldn't find the correct section so my next best bet was the LS1 section...:D

So will anything greater than 11.8" stock rotors fit under our 16" wheels?

Also I had my Passenger Side Front Callipre seize up on me (Pistons got stuck) and I Antiseized the living crap out of it. It seems to be working fine again however should I be looking for replacement down the road or is this problem solved?

Re: Brakes question...

I don't think 13" rotors with the necessary caliper placement would fit.

If you're front caliper seized, I'd either rebuild it or get a replacement. Better check both fronts.
