ABS wheel sensor problems

I upgraded my 93 to LS1 brakes and now I'm getting ABS wheel sensor codes for both wheels.

When I scanned it, the driver side wheel reported 0 29 times during the last drive cycle and the right wheel reported 0 4 times. Does this sounds like a sensor or connection problem? I never had any problems before the upgrade.

I got a connector with the LS1 brakes and it looks different from my LT1 connectors although the LT1 connectors fit in just fine.

I'm going to check the voltage and resistance on the sensors tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else had problems like this before.
Thanks.

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

Thats odd i just did the LS1 swap on my car and no problems. Maybe i'm crazy madwolf but i thought 93's have diff brakes than 94-97. I don't know the diff but maybe the wheel sensor is diff too.

I know for a fact they have different calipers but the hub/abs sensor is the same. Do you remember how your connector looked like? Did it have one clip in the middle or two clips on each side?

could you explain some more on what your asking Ion? I don't know what you mean by one clip in the middle or two on each side? I'm sitting here looking at my CAGS harness and the plug in on my car that went into the ABS sensor looks just like the plug in for the CAGS on a 6 spd if you've seen one.

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

I'm pretty sure the CAGS connectors weren't different, so yours must look like this one.
That's exactly how my ABS connectors look too, but the connector on the LS1 has the little plastic clips on the sides as opposed to in the middle.

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

i believe your right and my ABS sensors on the hub had two raised plastic lips on the sides for a plug to catch on, but it also had a connector Lock in the middle to hold on the plug like you showed. Well i'm fresh out of ideas then.

Yea, mine is the same way too. The weird thing is that the connectors fit in nice and latch but I'm still getting codes. I'll see what my tests show tomorrow and post the results.
Thanks.

Is it possible to use the LT1 sensors??

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

I'm pretty sure the hubs are interchangeable but in my case, I'd rather not if I can get it fixed. The old hubs have 130K miles on them and they look like they're going to fall appart from all the rust on them. ;)

My bad..I forgot they changed the hubs... Hmmm.. Im not sure then.

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

I just put LS1 brakes from a 2000 on my 93 about 2 weeks ago. I used the hubs that came with the brakes and have had no problems at all. I dont remember what the connectors look like. I hope you get it figured out.

Is the ABS INOP light off when you start the car? Does it come on when you begin driving?

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

No, it will come on as soon as I start moving forward. (5-7 MPH or whatever is the test for the wheel sensors)

Don't forget the brakes forum :D

I had an ABS problem where the ABS INOP light would come. Turns out the problem was with a bad connection at a wheel sensor. I took all the connections apart, bent the prongs over just a little so better contact would be made, plugged everything back in and no problems since :D

Re: ABS wheel sensor problems

The hubs are the same, and the sensor is in the hub. I would start by making sure they are plugged in, and if they were, I would unplug it, make sure everyhing loooked okay, then plug it back in. It may just be a bad connection.
