ABS light & Traction control lighton?
this is a new problem that's been happening lately with my Z. When i first start the car up the ABS light and traction control light is OFF, but while driving if i hit a bump or rough pavement both of the lights light up on the dash. Still drives fine but it's annoying, it used to happen once in awhile but lately it comes on anytime i hit something tiny even. What could cause this, is there some sensor that may be loose on the rear-end? I can get the lights back off by shutting the car off and just re-starting it. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I can't believe no one has ANY experience or trouble-shooting techniques for this. Seems like when i post a question i get zero feedback....sometimes i think it's a waste of time posting a problem on here.
Check the ground wires on the passenger side shock tower just behind the battery/next to the power steering fluid tank. Try cleaning them up with sand paper and make sure they are tight. I posted that a couple years ago and it was a common problem...a search should have pulled it up.
I've had this when encountering high jounce action on the rear axle (3 wire system - 1997). When ignition is cycled, the light resets off. Found it to be the sensor in the rear end. Loose fastener, or, not seated, possibly a connector. But I have since removed abs. Quite a job since I did not consider the differance between metric and American fitting sizes - resulted in a big job and not as simple as most e_mail kits report. Anyway, ground the lt green wire (pin A7 on ECBM module - specific to 1997 - different per vehicle year) and the light will never be on. Hope this helps. B.
